Since he’s on vacation from his column writing, I thought I ’d use some i of his space and tell you a little bit of the INSIDE S'TORY OP CHUBBY JACKSON. I’ve known him lor many years. Even during his\ days at Freeport High School he was a \Bouncing Bundle of Personality.’’ Chubby Jackson is a paradox. He has the physique of an athlete and the fine appreciation and imagina tion of an artist. He has the rhythm and sparkle of a natural showman and entertainer and he also pos sesses the mentality of a progres sive business tycoon. Chubby Jackson, allhougli still a young man, (Just started in his forties I. is a person who achieved success in many fields. In the world of showbusiness and big-name bands he was considered a king, having won every major award. His warmth and personality were features with such internn- ilonal headline attractions as the famous Woody Herman musical aggregations. Chubby hit Chicago cold and in a very short time he became one the biggest TV and theater attrac tions In this very show-wise city But Chubby Jackson at heart will always be a good family man and real home-town boy. He gave \ many lucrative offers to remain in his home-town of Freeport with his wife, Jay. and his son and two lovely daughters. The name \Chubby Jackson ” is now magic in millions of homes throughout this part of the country. He’s one of WABC-TV's biggest attractions and a television favor ite with both young and old Chubby Jackson’s personal ap pearances rate high-figure fees, yet, he is such a sincere booster of Freeport that he forgets his busi ness manager, forgets commercial ism and never fails to make a per sonal appearance for most all worthy causes. I've seen him break, a good-pay ing engagement to appear at the opening of some friend’s store. His work with school children and In safety campaigns is legendary. This is a little bit about Freeport’s new \Unofficial Ambassador of Good-will\ and official Commis sioner of Entertainment . . . Free port’s home-town idol: CHUBBY JACKSON.!
