FReeport 8-9878 Making The Rounds — with — Bernard Snyder rve heard a lot of Freeport’s Railroad Ave. I ’ve heard that it was the \Street of Broken Dreams\ — \Skid Row\ — “Freeport’s Bowery\ — \The Av enue of Flotsam and Jetsam.\ Well, somebody Is trying to fool somebody, htoybe It was that way once, but co-day, with the new sta tion and elevated tracks. Railroad Av^ue has become one of Free port's nicest streets. Last week-end I toured some of the establishments of Railroad Av enue with a man who has been an expert on the action and the nlte- life on this \boulvard\ all of his life . . . I mean Freeport’s own nite- Ufe impfessarlo STANLEY McCAF- PREY. We visited Milllf. Andy and Otto at the very Well-operated CAPRI i RESTAURANT. This place offers excellent Itallan-American food specialties and is a favorite family establishment. Andy, hOllie and Otto serve as hosts on the floor and behind the bar. HOLY. REDEEMER EXPANSION PLANS OFHCIALLY CHECKED ■ _ Another stop we made was KAY- ATT'S RED CARPET RESTAUR ANT which, like the Capri, also has entrances on both Railroad Ave. and Sunrise Hwy. This is one of the finest rooms on Long Island. The private dining room is very intimate and the cocktail lounge is comfortable and friendly. Nelson. Lillian and Eddie Kayatt serve as hosts and owners of this very pop ular establishment. No place on Long fsland serves the specialties which Nelson Kayatt prepares. Also on Railroad Avenue is a long-time favorite with not . only FYeeport’s r^pilars but also with commuters. It's ANDY MONE- STERE'S WHTTEHOUSE REST AURANT AND BAR. Here one can share a friendly atmosphere with businessmen, lawyers, doctors and leaders from all walks of life. Andy Monestere Is very active In local projects. Next week I'll tell you more about the reputable places on Railroad The '‘Skid Row\ stigma of the name \Railroad Ave.\ will soon be forgotten In tfie past. I understand that Mayor Robert Sweeney’s ad ministration will continue former Mayor Bill Glacken’s plan of chang ing the name of this street. There's a hew look on RR Ave., and soon it will have a new name. Men are freest when Qiey are most unconscious of freedom. —. D. H.
