THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, 1917 t - Herald Pictures To Make Movies in Old Elks Clubhouse Juck Goldberg, a local resident, .met a pioneer in motion picture production, has acquired the former 3iome of the Brooklyn Elks, in tho heart of down - town \Brooklyn •which will be converted into an ultra-modern motion picture studio by Federal Studios Inc., a subsidi- ury of Herald Pictures of which Mr. Goldberg is president. The building is a five-story struc- ture on a lot 100x115 situated at »44-152 South Oxford, st., and ad- iacent to the Fulton st. stations of the IRT and Eighth Avenue sub- ways. The new plant, which- will introduce motion picture produc- tion to Brooklyn, will contain three tiound stages with the latest equip- ment and preparations are now be- ing made to utilize the entire top rfioor~for—television; ——'_ The studio will be completely fireproof and equipped with the latest in vim vaults, cutting rooms ;ind conveniences for casts and production crews. In addition to an up-to-date commissary and gen- erous office space, it will also in- clude a modern preview theatre and the only rear-projection screen for process shots available in this vicinity. Production facilities will permit the shooting of all types of motion pictures from de-luxe features to industrial and educational short .subjects. Conversion is expected to toe complete by June 30th.
