Barrett, president. \The principal reason for this apparent inrrnr'ic.\ Mr. Barrett explain^. \was the reduction of Lax liability arising put of the refunding of bond indebted- ness, certain large items, such »F. redemption premiums, having been held to be allowable deduc- tions In the determination of Income bax. If the refinancing had not ^been effected thn net Income would have been approx- imately $640,000 less than the amount- stated, or about $125.000 more than in 1941. \Expanses of taxation (includ- ing provision for Federal income tax) amounted to $2,118.235, or an app&rant decrease of approx- imately $270, 281.. Had the reduc- tion of $640,000 In tax liability not been e free ted the' rurrent year's total tax expense would have been $3,768.235, or almost 15 per- cent increase over 1941. Interest, and other Income deductions de- creased $48.545 principally as a result of the refinancing. \Operating revenues amounted to $14,50^513. an Increase of *51B^IO over 1941. despite the efTcct of t^e dim-out and black- out regulations *md the reduced sales ol electric and gas Advertising FMltidal GROVE THEATRE 'Chino Girl' 3:15 6:30 9:4R 'Margin for Error 2:00 5:15 8:30 I REBt'ORT THEATRE 'For Me and My Gnl' 3:10 6:30 9:45 'Omaha Trail\ 2:05 5:30 8:40 of maintenance, i&flecL a net In- crease *ot $80,592 after giving effect to a reduction of approx- imately $92,000 in the amortiza- tion of expenses relating to in- ventories of utility plant antT proceedings before the Public Service Commission. Open Ling. expenses on a comparable basis* (with 1941) increased approxim- atedy $172,444 due principally to the substantial increase in the quantities of electricity and gaa produced, the increase in the amount of fuels used and the relatively large increased coat Of such fuels. \New property was installed i and new additions made to exist- ing facilities In an amount of $2,303,444 durng the year. Gas produced by the system companies showed a 4 per cent gain at 8,942,565,000 cubic feet. The increase was attributed by the company to larger volume of sales to heating customers, whereas sal pa to thia type of customer had been lower in 1941 because of the milder weather.
