L., Is waging a round-up campaign to enroll 200 additional members by March 15, with the hope of retaining the leadership it has held so many years. At the semi-monthly meeting in the Dugout Friday night, at which Commander William W. Davis presided, the membership chairman, reported the post had a paid-up membership of 264. How- ever, County Commander Sher- man Moreland, Jr., who was pres- ent, reported that another unirai- ready had 365 members, 115 more than Its quota of 250. Disaster 7\o 4ic( WorA m Rboseveff Mrs. Eoron's Group Will Help Orgonize Activities There The Committee on Disaster Relief of the Freeport Red Cross Branch, headed by Mrs. Agnes Earon, has done such an excellent job here that it has been called on to assist the Roosevelt authori- ties in setting up a similar organization in that village. As a result, Mrs. Earon, accom-\® panled <by Mrs, E. S^eeman Miller; chairman of the Freeport Branch and other leaders In the work at- tended a meeting in Merrick last night at which they outlined the plan of organization and other de- tails of operation. The Freqport committee met in the court room of the Municipal Building Tuesday night and the heads of the various activities re- ported on the progress they were making. Mrs. Zaroii, who presided, explained that her committee would not take over, in the event of a disaster, until the Air Raid Wardens and other Civil Defense Units had completed their tasks, but that it would then be its duty to provide food, clothing and housing' for those who had been left homeless by the catastrophe. Mrs. Earon introduced Mrs. Mil- ler, Mrs. Harold W. Battln, chair- man of Home Service; Mrs. John W. Dodd, the women's represen- tative on the Civil Defense Coun- cil; Mrs. Worden Z. Winne, who spoke of the Victory League, Mrs. Henry Burnett, who asked for vol- unteers to make a housing survey of the village, saying the commu- nity had been divided Into sixteen districts for this purpose, and Miss Virlgnia Wells, who with Miss Harriet -Church, 'both members of the\ high achool faculty, has made a survey of the supply food that would be available in the lo- cal stores in the event of an emergency.
