Approximately sixty girl scouts of Farmingdale and leaders, Bernadette Soka, Laura Forte, Joyce McGuckin, Pat Budd, Helen Hayes, lone Moran and her husband, Anna Marie Bein, Junior Consultant Joan Vec- chione, Brownie Consultant Mavis Salerno and several mothers, spent a lovely weekend at Camp De Wolfe in Wading River, L.I. They searched for shells on the beach, had a sing-a- long, were taught square dancing by Mrs. Cowhey, and learned to make laniards by program consultant Anna Calleri. A huge thank you goes to the Levittown Roller Rink for once again opening their doors to the scouts for three, totally free, afternoon sessions of skating. The scouts had a ball. Brownie troop 3048 and leaders Diane McMahon and MaryLou Arongio held their investiture in the lovely setting of the Tackapausha Preserve, while the ducks walked among the girls, providing background music with their quacking. A Hag ceremony and the singing of \Whene'er You Make A Promise,\ was followed by the presentation of a play telling the charming Brownie story. The owls; Grandma and Father had beautiful costumes, and every scout had a line or two to say. At the end of the story, the wise old owl tells the little girls to look in the pond to see who the helpful Brownies are, and low and behold, they see their Own reflections. The preserve, With its real pond, was a perfect setting for this sweet story. Senior scouts Beth Rosenstrach and Linda Sperling of troop 3009, who have been attending the Brownie meetings, helped the leaders give the Girl Scout Pins to the Brownies. Everyone sang the \Brownie Smile Song\ with hand motions and sang \Make New Friends\ as a round. Then, the resourceful leaders whisked a table from the trunk of a car, and served orange juice, lemonade and coffee to the guests, in- cluding mothers and Mr. Arongio. One of the mothers made a beautiful cake, iced with flowers and Brownies. Living Storybooks A hew story hour for the younger set will soon begin.
