UNICfcF is ... international, non-political, child-centered, non-discriminatory, voluntarily supported, and a self-help prograi UNICEF has received a positive rating from the National Information Bureau, a non-profit agency for monitoring national' charities and private foun- dations. UNICEF is doing exemplary work throughout the world to create a brighter future for all people. We live in an ever- shrinking world and the troubles of others influence our lives. We need to be aware of the value of helping others; and our children' in whose hands, world peace and security will lay, not only must be sensitive to the plight of others, but must have many op- portunities to actively respond to these needs so that translating concern into positive action will become integrated with their way oflife - i Patricia Schriro Betty Tomf orde Coordinators Dear Editor: For the past several months I have been campaigning actively for a seat on the Oyster Bay Town Board. I have been fortunate to meet many people from all over the town and have found this to not only be a most enjoyable experience, but an informative and enlightening one as well. I am very proud to live in the town of Oyster Bay and to have been accorded the warm and gracious greetings I have received through the last few months. Regardless of party affiliation, people have been very, cordial and politically aware. Since I have always devoted myself to f people through my community involvement and civic work, I am deeply thankful for the opportunity my candidacy has afforded me in meeting my neighbors Jiroughout our town. Most Sincerely, /s/Judy Jacobs ocratic/Independent Candidate for iter Bay Town Council All Members of the FARMINGDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT 361 Main Street Farnfingdale, New York 11735 Gentlemen: By copy of this letter to the Editor of The Farmingdale Post, I hope that public recognition can be given in an early issue of the newspaper to the prompt, ef- fective action rendered by your Rescue Squad at my home Oc- tober 23. My mother-in-law was taken ill during a birthday dinner and lost consciousness. Our phone call brought immediate response, practically as soon as the receiver was being hung up. The expert first-aid and transport to the hospital provided all the assistance needed in the emergency. Your Squad mem- bers will be pleased to know that my mother-in-law recovered and is in good health. We are all deeply grateful and send the enclosed check as a token of our appreciation. ,i Cordially, /s/Harold B.Plaut i Harold B.Plaut Urge \Yes\ Vote For Jobs Hempstead Town Presiding Supervisor Fran Purcell and Suffolk County Executive John Klein have joined in a joint en- dorsement of State Constitutional Amendment Proposals that would help in the creation of more jobs on Long Island and New York State. The amendments, proposals 7 & 8 on the ballot in November, increase the borrowing power of the Job Development Authority and broaden the types of businesses that can get financing from the JDA. \Both of these amendments would cost the taxpayers nothing,\ Purcell stated, \and would encourage further economic expansion.\ Purcell, unveiling an industrial complex at Mitchel Field, in- dicated that approval of amend- ments 7 & 8 would help businesses to locate at the site. \We have about one-third of the total square footage of this project already committed,\ Purcell explained, \but ad- ditional financing frpm the JDA would make completion an easier task.\ Of the 1,000,000 square feet in the 48 acre industrial park, 375,000 square feet are already in firm negotiation. \Although these industries would prefer not to have their names released at this stage.\ /If it were not for hope the heart would break.\ English proverb Purcell said, \I can state that they include a 100,000 square foot pharmaceutical company, a 125,000 foot interior fixture in- dustry and a major lock company that will occupy 150,000 square feet.\ These three companies and other industries would generate approximately 3,000 manufac- turing jobs plus, another nearly 5,000 jobs in support industries.
