Grumman Scholars Grumman Corporation will award 12 scholarships to selected students planning careers in science and engineering. Each scholarship will cover tuition up to a $3,000 limit an- nually and is renewable each year until graduation. The Nassau County Police Department will host the third annual conference of the Nor- theastern Association of Forensic Scientists, Inc., at its Mineola Headquarters, October 29. Between 150 and 200 members of the association are expected to attend the conference which will feature a day long series of scientific seminars. Police Commissioner Daniel P. RIF Program On Friday, November 4, the Farmingdale Public Library will hold the second of three special preschool programs in which free paperback books will be distributed to Farmingdale Headstart youngsters. The program is part of the federally- funded R.I.F. program, Reading Is Fundamental, designed to give children the incentive to read by giving them the opportunity to select books to take home. Children's librarians will go to the Headstart RIF ... classes at the Woodward Parkway School and give a short presentation and story hour to the youngsters, after which time the children will be able to choose a paperback book to take home.
