BH3WWHWgBga«»P^ to i 00 fa Kiwanis Award Douglas Dunn, a 9th grade student at Mill Lane Jr. High School was the recipient of an academic award from the Kiwanis Club of Farmingdale. Presenting the award to Douglas, in the presence of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Dunn, was Robert Rosenthal, Past Lt. Governor, Kiwanis Long Island North Division. Douglas along with Miss Mary Ann Augert, who had previously received her award at a dinner in New Hyde Park, was chosen by their school as having most improved themselves academically during this last school year. Closed July 4th The Post Office will be closed all day July 4, Postmaster William J. Purcell advises. There will be no window ser- vice or city delivery service. Delivery will be made to residential of special delivery mail. Collections will be on a Sunday and Holiday schedule. Patrons are encouraged to deposit mail in the \White Star\ Boxes, or to those by the Main Office and South Farmingdale Branch on Sunday and Monday, July 3 and 4. Farewell Lunch The teachers, secretaries, and PTA of Mill Lane Junior High School held a farewell luncheon on Wednesday, June 22, for Guy Valentine who has been Acting Principal of the school for the past year. Valentine was commended by all for his exemplary leadership in administering Mill Lane Junior High School. As a token of their appreciation, the staff and PTA gave Mr. Valentine a pocket watch inscribed, 'Dear Guy, Thanks, Mill Lane, 1977'.\ King's Daughters Mrs. Halsey Knapp hosted the; Alpha Kappa Delta Circle, The King's Daughters and Sons, Inc. at her home in Stony Brook. This meeting brought to a close a very busy year carrying out the ob- jects of the Order. Some of the projects were a community center in Tenn., Blue Mountain Mission in Arizona, student work and the N.Y. Branch's home for their members inDansville, N.Y. The officers installed by Mrs. Robert Lincoln, past District president, former 1st and 2nd V.P. of the Branch were: Mrs. Ellery Fellett, president; Mrs. AnnLavery, vice president; Mrs. Paul Frey, secretary; Mrs. Frank Dinda, treasurer. Mrs. Lincoln used the flower in- stallation service written by Mrs. Ray Alger a former resident of this area and founder of the Circle. Thunderbird Show The \Thunderbirds the of- ficial air demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force, have scheduled a display of their aircraft at the Central Mall at Jones Beach State Park from 11 am to 7 pm starting Wednesday, June 29 through July 6. Highlighting this period will be two air shows at 2 pm on July 2 and 3. PBC Camp Farmingdale youth can enjoy a summer of fun at Nassau County Police Boys Club's summer camp located on beautiful Long Island Sound, Riverhead. Have a week of fun., swim in an Olympic size pool, participate in baseball, volleyball, archery, softball and many other sports activities. Also, ride go-carts, hike, cook- out, and beach-comb on 1000 feet of beach. Camp will open July 3 for boys, ages 10-14 and on August 21, a two-week period will start for girls ages 9-13. Saladino announced that sanitary collection services will be suspended on Monday, July 4, in observance of In- dependence Day but a special collection will be made July 6 to make up for it. \Residents who normally have their garbage picked up on Monday will receive a special collection on Wednesday, July 6,\ he explained. Saladino, chairman of the Town Board committee on sanitation, also noted that all Town departments will be closed on July 4, except for park facilities.
