Junior troop 616, leaders Pauline and Shari Marcus, and helpers Debbie Masino, Joan Vecchione, Bonnie Berkowitz, Renee Clark, Marion Morano, Edna Battaglia, Betty Alberts and Laney Sperling spent a day at the Statue of Liberty. They were given the VIP treatment for Girl Scouts on the LIRR. They took a reserved car to the city, were met by a representative who escorted them to the subway, and were accompanied on the subway and taken to the ferry. The weather, warm, bright and sunny was tailor made for an outdoor day. A walk around the outside of the impressive Statue, and taking in the beautiful views on all sides, was followed by a picnic lunch, then the elevator ride to the observation deck. All the girls and some of the hearty ladies climbed the 167 steps to the crown. Everyone enjoyed the interesting Museum of Im- migration on the grounds, and the souvenir shopping. Then a very abmitious small group decided to Climb tolhe crown again, while the others rested their sore muscles. The ferry ride back was balmy and relaxing and everyone had a wonderful day.
