Paper Drive Boy Scout Troop 511 will conduct their paper drive on Saturday, May 7, at the corner of Motor Ave. and Woodward Park- way. Roots Reshown Did you miss any segments of the recent Roots television special? Through the auspices of the Nassau Library System and the Suffolk Cooperative Library system, the South Farmingdale Branch Library has access to this very popular series. The twelve episodes will be shown two at a time for six consecutive Thursdays, starting May 12 Showtime is 7:30 p.m. headquarters of the Office of Consumer Affairs. Complaints will be taken for investigation and free advice will be offered. Consumers who wish to register complaints should bring along copies of sales slips, contracts or warranties. Three Village Tour Consumerhelp ^ ft& The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society is sponsoring a tour of Stony Brook, Setauket, and East Setauket on Sunday afternoon, May 15. Historic sites, homes, churches, and other places of interest will be visited on the bus tour. William B. Minuse, immediate past president of the Three Village Historical Society, will act as tour leader and host. Mrs. Augusta Green (249-0003) is registrar of the tour for the local society; additional in- formation may be obtained from her by interested community residents. Under a new Consumerhelp Program, consumers who have problems with retail stores, supermarkets, repair or ser- vicemen, contractors, or creditors will be able to get free assistance at the Farmingdale Public Library, Main & Conklin Streets, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nassau Consumer Affairs Commissioner James E. Picken said the Consumerhelp Program, which will be staffed by a trained Volunteer Consumer Advisor, will provide the same preliminary srvices as those available at the Mineola Mother's Day Live Plant Fair will feature hangers and potted plants on Friday May 6-10:30 a.m. at the East Farmingdale Fire House - 9:30 Conklin St. East Farmingdale, Sponsored by E.F.F.D. Dr. Robert Marcus, a rheurnatologist from Massapequa, will be speaking on the many forms of arthritis and how patients can learn to cope with the problems they may be facing due to the disease. Mother's Day Calls Mother's Day may be a day of rest for Long Island mothers, but New York Telephone expects it to be one of the busiest dates on its calendar. This year it is expected that the volume of calls placed by Nassau and Suffolk residents on Mother's Day, May 8, will exceed the record 235,000 calls placed last year. Statewide, the company handled over 1.6 million calls on Mother's Day 1976. To assist callers in completing their calls. New York Telephone offers this advice: • Avoid the peak calling period that will occur in the late mor- ning, early afternoon and early evening. • To save time and money, dial calls directly.
