W/o Graham St. OYSTER BAY, NEW YORK MARCH 21, 1977 BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF APPEALS Town of Oyster Bay Raymond H. Schoepflin, Chairman Robert Swenson, Secretary F. Post l/t 3-24-77 #4912 Several Junior troops made three hundred fifty green tissue paper and sparkle carnations and nametags, then donated them to the Levittown Senior Citizens for \wearing of the green\ at their St. Patrick's Day meeting. Every month, Joan Vecchione, Consultant for Junior level, conducts a buzz (meeting) of Junior leaders, at her home. Mrs. Vecchione informs the leaders of all neighborhood events and needs. The ladies exchange ideas and discuss plans and problems. This month's meeting was festive as well as informative. Much to the surprise of Catherine Robinson, leader of Junior troop 708, who is expecting in May, the ladies held a baby show for her. They said she was genuinely surprised and very pleased with their thoughtfulness and the little gifts of a blanket, doll, rabbit, socks, bottle, etc. As always, Mrs. Vecchione served coffee and cake. Brownie troop 349 and leaders Ana McGrath and Deborah Thank Councilman The neighbors of Idaho Avenue N. Massapequa, would like to extend their thanks to Joseoh Saladino, Town Councilman, for his help in the removal of the vacant house on Broadway and Idaho Avenue. The house was a hazard to the community due to a fire. Tobias, also driver-helpers Mr. McGrath and Mrs. Caller! were given the grand tour of Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips on Hempstead Turnpike in Beth- page. They were shown the secret recipe because they are girl scouts and can be trusted not to reveal it, and the storage area where food is kept at freezing temperatures. They were shown how to prepare the franks in the special batter, and the fish and chicken. The girls tasted all three, were encouraged to eat as much as they wanted, had french fries and made their own sodas from the fountain machine. They were treated marvelously by the management and enjoyed the trip immensely. On the way home, they stopped at a car wash and sat in the cars while they went through the cleaning process. There was much screaming and carrying on and the girls had a lot of fun. Theodore Witonski Theodore J. Witonski of N. Massapequa passed away on March 8,1977. He was the beloved husband of Isabelle, loving father of Peter, Victoria Elizabeth Keens of London and brother of Jeanette Kretz of Cleveland Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Kilian RC Church March 10, 1977. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Pinelawn. Now that the snow is gone (we hope), and we can see what the bautification programs can take on as its challenge, we would like to see that triangle at Ful- ton St. and Conklin refixed. It looked good on the drawing board, but that is where it should have stayed. Last weekend many people washed and shined up the car that the spring weather made possible, but have you checked out the bike that your child will now also bring out which the weather will now permit? Does it have a headlight, reflectors and do they work and are they visible? We all know accidents never happen to our child, it is always a neighbor. Well, remember to the people next door we are the neighbor. Lack of safety now could mean a statistic number later. Make it Happy Bike Riding.
