Noto Is a pilot at Loring AFB, Maine, with the 69th Bombardment Squadron. * * * The Mid-Island Section of the Nassau County Multiple Sclerosis Society will meet at the Plainedge Library, Hicksville Road, the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month 1-3 PM. Catherine, a junior is majoring in education of the mentally retarded in the School of Education.. \Blackout\ Dance Planned By Dads Say the word \Blackout\ to most New Yorkers and you conjure up the image of November 11, 1965. At 5:20 that night, a fuse blew in Canada, and the lights went out along the east coast, creating one of the most bizarre evenings in history. In spite of the terrible in- conveniences, millions of people banded together in what was to become the biggest.party of all finance Drive time. In spite of the discomfort and confusion, the night of the activities, sports awards and scholarships in the High School. \Blackout\ is one of the many events the Dads' Club will be sponsoring this year, along with The Unlikely Olympics and an active participation in \Holidale\, the village-wide celebration of the Christ- mas/Chanukah season. HOMECOMING QUEEN: Kathie L. Paige of Farmingdale, a senior at Rider College, was named campus Homecoming Queen during alumni festivities Oct. 23 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Kathi, an elementary education major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Paige, 32 Damin Dr. Forget-Me-Not Ball The 24th Annual Forget-Me-Not Ball for the benefit of United . Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc., will be held on Saturday, November 13, at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Ball Chairmen Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. Robinson, III are \delighted with ticket responses and the enthusiasm of our various committees.\ This year's \Woman of the Year\ will be Mrs. Robert Lee Henry of Brook- ville. Long Island's famous \Merry Mailman\ Ray Heatherton will once again don the emcee hat for this gala evening, when over 700 will dance .to the music of Herb Meyers and }his Orchestra. Dr. and Mrs. Jack McElwain are honorary Ball Chairmen; John J. Kelly of Farmingdale chairs the Journal Committee; Gifts Committee Jjo-Chairmen are Mrs. James M. Flynn, Jr. and Mrs. Harold G. Wangberg; and Stephen W. Schlissel and David Gray are Co-Chairmen of the Ticket Committee. The Ball is black tie, cocktails at 7:30 pm, dinner at 9. Tickets are $50 per person. Great Blackout became a night to remember because people related to people without all the usual distractions of the elec- tronic age. One group that remembers the blackout very well is the Dads' Club. They are celebrating the 11th anniversary of that night with a dinner dance at the American Legion Hall on Eastern Parkway in Farmingdale on Saturday, November 27, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Live music will be featured, along with a buffet, and other surprises. Of course, there will be no electricity, so all lighting will be provided by candles, lanterns and battery-powered lamps. All in all, it promises to be a great deal of fun. Ticket sales are limited, so interested parties are urged to call in their orders now: Tickets are ten dollars a couple and can be obtained by calling Janet Getter at MY 4-5819, Jo Keats at 694-0486 or Katherine Weldon at 293-4567. All proceeds will go to the Dads 1 Club fund which con- tributes to extra-curricular The League of Women Voters of the Town of Oyster Bay is currently conducting its annual finance drive. The League does not function only at election time. With its members meeting in workshop groups from Old Brookville to Massapequa, from.Hicksville to Syosset, the League, a non partisan organization, work toward being informed and in- forming the public on topics important to all of us. The Town of Oyster Bay League is now in the process of publishing a comprehensive booklet called \Know Your Town: Oyster Bay.\ Because the League of Women Voters is a non-profit organization, it must depend on the community it serves to provide the financial resources it needs. Student Council has started working on new projects for this year including a sock hop planned for mid-November and Thanksgiving drive for needy families. The officers have really been working hard and along with Mr. Farina deserve all our praise. Freshman class elections have been completed and the winners are: Marlene D'Angelo, President; Karen Crob, Vice President; Terry Lester, Secretary; Jamie Paterson, Treasurer. Congratultions to all the winners and best of luck this year. The class is planning its \first activity for mid-November and it will be a car wash. More information will be given later on. Honor Society has also elected its officers and they are Mary Jean Corbett, President; Carolyn Fornabaio, Vice President; Kara Theal, Secretary; and Marie Maloney, Treasurer. A trip to New York is in the planning stages and fund raising activities will be announced soon. The yearbook staff has begun the work of laying out the yearbook. The price will be $4.25 and orders are being taken now. Mill Lane clubs are just getting underway. Some of the clubs that are looking for new members are the art, photography, bowling, and Long Island clubs. If you are interested in any of these clubs you should signup right away for space is limited. SPORTS NEWS - The MILL LANE Tigers football team got off to a great start, winning its first three games. All three games were won by over- whelming majorities and the Tigers hope to continue their winnings ways. The cheerleaders were out in full force for the first two games of the season. Under the direction of Mrs. Pulver and co-captains Mary O'Dea and Theresa Humphrey, the cheerleaders did a fine job. The soccer team has a record of l-3-l. All their games have been close ones and we hope they ? U break out of their slump soon. That's all for this week. School spirit is high right now and we'd like to keep it that way!
