The dates and times scheduled (rain or shine) are Friday, Aug 20,6 to 11 pm, Saturday, Aug 21,3 pm to 11 pm and Sunday, Aug 22, 3 pm to 11 pm. The carnival will feature rides, games, prizes and a variety of food and refreshments. The committee promises fun for everyone. Bill Patak and Bill Losurdo are co-chairman for the event. Car Wash Farmingdale MYF will sponsor a car wash this Saturday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the rear of the Methodist Church. Rose and Grant Streets. Donation $1 per car. Disaster Loans Victims of hurricane Belle who hope to apply for federal disaster loans should start by contacting the Nassau County Police Department's Office of Civil Preparedness. Inspector William Hildebrand, commanding officer of the Civil Preparedness unit said that damage information is necessary in order to justify a loan from the Small Business Bureau. \Victims of the storm should furnish us with their names, addresses, type of damage and estimated cost of repair and any insurance coverage they may have,\ Hildebrand declared, \if they hope to have the Small Business Bureau justify a disaster declaration.\ Further information can be obtained by calling the Office of Civil Preparedness at 535-5555 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Civil War Exhibit The South Farmingdale Branch of the Farmingdale Public Library will have on exhibit until Sept. 16, an unusual collection of Civil War memorabilia including original letters, books and photographs. This collection has been graciously loaned to us by A.L. Pollinger of Farmingdale. Parent Corner The Children's Department of the Farmingdale Public Library has prepared a Parents' Corner Shelf, atop the Easy Book collection at the South Branch Library. Included in the Parents' Corner are such materials as free booklists of recommended reading, lists of books and media for special education, and many books about the handicapped, the adopted, the child with a special problem, and health and sex education. Polish School The St. Ladislaus Polish Supplementary School of Hempstead, will begin a new school year with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ladislaus R.C. Church, Peninsula Blvd. and Front Street, Hempstead, on Saturday, Sept. 11. Registration of children will follow Mass in the school auditorium. A get-acquainted party for both children and their parents will follow registration. Classes will begin on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. Parents of school age children everywhere are urged to make every effort to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn the Polish language, singing, dancing and culture in the spirit of friendship among first, second and third generation Americans. As in previous years, a special class for children of non-Polish speaking parents will be taught by Mrs. Josephine Wrzesinska. SSI Screening There will be an SSI Screening at the Farmingdale Public Library on the corner of Main and Conklin Streets on Tuesday, September 7, from 10 a.m.-lp.m. If you are blind, disabled, or over 65, you may be eligible for SSI benefits. Bob Weber of the Mineola Social Security Office will be on hand to answer questions regarding Sup- plemental Security Income. Boy Scout Retreat The Bishop's Committee on Scouting, Diocese of Rockville Centre, has announced that the 1976 retreat for scouts of Nassau County will be held Sept. 25 and 26 at Camp Wauwepex, Wading River. According to retreat chairman John Wallace of West Hempstead, the theme of the weekend event will be \God Is the Answer.\ The committee is sponsored by the Catholic Youth Organization, a service of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Rockville Centre. L.L Symphony The Babylon Citizens Council On The Arts, in cooperation with the Town of Babylon, will present the Long Island Symphony at Tanner Park, Copiague, on August 24, at 8: 30 p.m. Admission is free.
