They spent a noisy evening having fun and practicing their swimming skills at the High School pool. They bussed to Lancaster, Pa. to learn of the unusual way of life of the Amish people, saw an Amish farm, ate at the Kitchen Kettle, and spent time at the Lancaster Museum, viewing its exhibits and moving stage. They, also, were taken on an interesting guided tour of the main headquarters of the Nassau County Police in Mineola. They were shown the steps that are followed when 911 is dialed, the communications system to which many local fire stations have hooked up, the fingerprinting process, the drunk test, high speed equipment and large tow trucks, and all the girls took turns going into the holding cell which is used prior to imprisonment. Brownie troop 676 and leaders Grace Kirk and Bernadette Soka had a most enjoyable afternoon when they lunched at Hardy's and then roller skated at the Levittown Rink. To prepare for camping as a Junior scout, but since Brownies may not sleep away from home, each year the Brownies have an all day campout.
