UJ X I- Making News Around Town s CAPA Chorale The Farmingdaie Public Library is pleased to host its \Second Bicentennial Concert at the Library,\ sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay, Cultural and Performing Arts Division, on Sunday, March 21, from 3-5 p.m. at its South Branch. The CAPA Chorale, directed by Carl Olsen, will include in its program a selection of Broadway tunes, classical music, and Bicentennial songs. The CAPA Chorale was formed in 1974 and has per- formed extensively on Long Island. Its director Carl Olsen, a tenor formerly with the New York City Opera and a former winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, is presently Voice and Chorale Director at Columbia University. Free tickets are available at the Reference Desk at the library for the entire family. Chemistry Demo The Farmingdaie Public Library will present for its district youngsters an unusual program from the North Shore Science Museum of Plandome on Tuesday, March 23 from 4 - 5 p.m. at its South Branch. Skilled members of the. Museum staff will present a dramatic and colorful demonstration of the wonders of the world of chemistry, including states of matter, solutions and mixtures, and chemical vs. physical reactions. Children must register in person, and a fee of $1.00 per child will be collected at the time of registration. Registration will take place during library hours in the Children's Room of the library. Charm Sessions Mrs. Renee Solomon will conduct a two-hour charm session for young girls, par- ticularly of intermediate and Junior High School age, on Saturday, March 27, dealing with the essentials of etiquette, grooming, poise and other points of interest to young girls. The session will be held in both libraries. The Main Library will present the Charm Session from 2-4 p.m. on March 27; South Branch from 10-12 noon. Pre- registration required. Reading Clubs The Patriots'Reading Club and the Read To Me Club continue at the Farmingdaie Public Library's Main and South Branch. Oral reports are being heard every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 - 5 p.m. in the Children's Rooms of the Library, until March 16. Children must report on six books \ in order to earn a reading cer- tificate and attend the Colonial Fair on March 17* at the South Branch Library at 3:30 p.m. Members of the Read To Me Club meet on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. where teenage volunteers read to district youngsters at the library. Double Feature Saturday Film Matinee for Saturday, March 0, at the South Branch Library at 2 p.m. will be a double feature: One Wish Too Many, about a boy and a magic marble and Happy Owls, where two owls explain the source of their happiness to the quarrelling barnyard fowl. Admission is free to all. Married A Witch I Married A Witch, starring Fredric March and Veronica Lake, will be the Farmingdaie Public Library's film presen- tation on Thursday, March 4 at 7:30 P.M. at the South Far- mingdaie Branch, Merritts Road and Boundary Avenue. Ad- mission is free. BUI Of Rights The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society will hold its winter meeting this Sunday, February 29, at 3 p.m. in the South Farmingdaie Branch Library on Merritt Road. The program will feature a talk \The Bill of Rights, Then and Now: Our Heritage from English Common Law\ to be given by Melvin Brenner, chairman of the Social Studies Department of the J.F. Kennedy High School in Plainview, a member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau Civil Liberties Union, and past president of the Historical Society. The 1975-76 programs of the Historical Society have featured the freedoms established by the American Revolution and the Constitution. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. S eniormo bile The Seniormobile, traveling information unit of the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs, will visit the Farmingdaie Office of The Roslyn Savings Bank on Monday, March 1. Scheduled to be at the bank between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Seniormobile staff members will be ready to answer questions about the Food Stamp Program, Social Security and Consumer Affairs. As an additional service, Leisure Pass photos will be taken. Roslyn Savings Bank personnel will be available to help arrange for direct deposit of Social Security checks for interested persons. Free taxi service for senior citizens in the area to and from The Roslyn Savings Bank on March 1st is being made available by Farmingdaie Green & White Taxi, CH 94666.
