Nursing Home residents from approximately 15 Nassau County Nursing Homes, under the auspices of N.G.P.R.A., held a Bicen- tennial Fair at Hofstra University to help raise funds for the Pulmonary Care Institute. Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Pfoh will serve as Chairman of the 1976 Heart Fund campaign in Farmingdale, Costas T. Lam- brew, M.D., president of the American Heart Association, Nassau Chapter, announced today. Mrs. Pfoh has been active in the Nassau Chapter of -the American Heart Association for the past 6 years. Marge has served as Chairman of the Door- to-Door Campaign since 1972, raising thousands of dollars in support of the life-saving programs of the Heart Association. Last year she helped organize the successful com- munity blood pressure screening program. Presently, she is ac- tively working on the 3rd Annual Sweetheart Ball, to be held Friday, March 5, at the Holiday Manor, Bethpage. Proceeds are to go to the Heart Association. Extremely active in com- munity affairs, Marge is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Town of Oyster Bay; Farmingdale Republican Committee; Farmingdale Republican Club; and the Hard- scrabble Fair. She is also a member of the choir of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Pfoh will direct volun- teers in Farmingdale who'* will join the more than two million volunteers throughout the nation visiting the homes of friends and neighbors to distribute helpful heart literature and collecting funds to support Heart Association programs. Heart Disease is our. nation's Number One Killer - it claims [Continued on page 7] Host Families Needed For Euorpean Visitors Russian Gypsy Songs Featured At Concert Sonya Chamina is a featured artist in March 6th's Eastern European Heritage Concert sponsored by the Farmingdale Bicentennial Committee. A superb interpreter pf Russian Sonya Chamina Engagement Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ric- ciardi of Harbour Green, Massapequa, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Sandra, to Mr. Steven H. Vid, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven B. Vid of North Massapequa. Miss Ricciardi, a 1973 graduate of Massapequa High School, is employed as a receptionist by Vanity Fair Industries in Melville. Her fiance, a 1971 graduate of Plainedge High School, is em- ployed as a computer technician for Merlin Printing, Inc., Farmingdale. Gypsy songs and an artist of distinct dramatic flair, she promises to bring a new and exciting type of music to delight the audience. Every phrase that she sings is charged with meaning and vitality. The purity of her diction is classic. The grace of her vocal line, her feeling for the authentic Gypsy expression, and the special quality of her mezzo- soprano voice culminate in Russian Gypsy songs that are so completely right. Every song of hers has a message to convey and bears her own stylistic stamp, so that even the familiar and oft- repeated melodies seem like a new and stirring experience. The Balalaika and Domra Society of New York, The Osenenko Ukrainian Folk Dancers of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic, Church, and The Oginski Male Choir of the Polish Singing Alliance of America are also featured in this unique evening of music. The variety of the program ranging from the solo voice of the Gypsy singer to the full range of male voices in the Polish Choir, plus the symphonic sound of the Balalaika and Domra Orchestra, added to the movement and color of the Ukrainian Folk Dancers forecasts a concert to be remembered and discussed over and over. The Farmingdale Bicentennial Committee feels. privileged to present the opportunity to enjoy another part of our American heritage through this evening of entertainment. The concert will be held at the Weldon E. Howitt Jr. High School auditorium on March 6 at 8 pm. Tickets are $1.00 for adults and $.50 for children under 15. DeMolay Names Master Councilpr Glenn H. Barth, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Barth, 8 Eastern Parkway, Farmingdale, was installed as Master Coun- cilor of Jesse Merritt Chapter of the Order of DeMolay on Saturday night, Jan. 24, at the Masonic Temple in Farmingdale. Also installed were Kenneth Neusch as Senior Councilor and Jeff Schaetzel as Junior Coun- cilor. The installing team was made up of Guy Fessenden, Installing Officer (also N.Y. Metropolitan Region Master Councilpr); Bruce Hommel, Erik Bunes, Michael Frost, Arthur Pastor and Frank Margiotta. All the members of the installing [Continued on page 7] Farmingdale area families are needed to host English-speaking European visitors as guests in their homes for a 10-day period during 1976 it was announced today by the American Host Foundation. American Host is one of the few non-governmental programs designed to show the American way of life to foreign visitors by pairing them with American families, and has been endorsed by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration as a nationwide home hospitality program for the Bicentennial year. Now in its fifteenth year, America Host has opened doors to better understanding for more than 9,000 European visitors who have passed on their hew un- derstanding of America to their colleagues and friends. Being a \Host Family\ is open to anyone who has the desire to increase understanding and friendship between Americans and Europeans. Host Families are required to provide a private room, meals for their guest, the opportunity to meet their friends and neighbors and to see places of interest in the area. American Host arranges all transportation. Host Families are asked to meet their guest upon arrival in their area. Visitors and Host Families have an opportunity to correspond for at least a month before meeting.
