UJ Paper Drive The tournament team of the Farmingdale Fire Department will hold a paper drive Saturday, February 21. All village residents are asked to place bundled papers by their curb Friday evening. Any person wishing to assist by bringing papers to the drive, may do so anytime during the weekend behind fire headquarters. Shaping Up A special physical fitness offer has been put together by the Athletic Department of the State University at Farmingdale. The Farmingdale community will be able to trim off the winter in activity through the use of the Olympic swimming pool and the eight racquet-ball courts located in the ultra-modern sports complex, Nold Hall, on the Farmingdale Campus. ' ,; - The times available are: Fridays, 8:30 pm to 10*30 pm; and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 pm to 5 pm. The tickets are $1. for adults and $.50 for children under sixteen. All tickets can be purchased at Nold Hall. Audition Set The sounds of Barbershop Harmony will ring throughout the Sweet Hollow Recreation Center on Monday night, February 23, when the new Huntington-North Shore Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and En- eouraggmfflt of Bafbcr—Sfe&cr Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) holds an audition meeting at 8:30 p.m. Ray Gape, chapter vice- president advises all interested men that a great singing voice is not required, just the ability to carry a tune. Visitors will be introduced to the four-part harmony style by the Three Village Four, The Talk About Town, and other chapter quar- tets. Informal harmonizing (\woodshedding\) will be demonstrated as refreshments are served after the meeting. The Sweet Hollow Recreation Center is on Gwynn Road in Melville. Barbershoppern Presidents of the Plainview and Huntington chapters of The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) announced that the two chapters will merge to form a new Huntington - North Shore chapter. Jade Bellis and George Broomfield, presidents of the Plainview and Huntington chapters respectively, said that the chorus of the new chapter will retain the name of the former Plainview chorus, \Our Sunday Best.\ The merged group will meet in the Sweet Hollow County Recreation Center on Gwynn Road in Melville, on Monday nights at 8:27 p.m. Cake Sate Cake Sale for the benefit of the Library Art Program will take place on Tuesday, February 24, at the South Branch Library. All are invited to bake a cake to donate to the cake sale, or buy one. All donations gladly ac- cepted. Kindergarten Blood Drive Registration for kindergarten in the Half Hollow Hills Schools will be held in the elementary schools of the district March 1 through March 5,9 a.m. • 12 noon. A child must be five years of age on or before December 31, to be eligible for kindergarten in September. Parents may enroll their child in the nearest elementary school to their home and should bring the child with them for the registration. Parents should present a birth certificate, evidence of polio, measles, rubella, and diptheria im- munization and be ready to record the child's history of communicable diseases. Sat. Matinee Saturday Film Matinee for Saturday, February 28, will be a wildlife story called, \An Elephant Called Slowly,\ with Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna adopting three small elephants. The film will have two showings: an 11:30 a.m. showing at Main Library and a 2 p.m. showing at the South Branch. No admission charge. Chess Club The Chess Club will hold its weekly meeting at the South Branch Library on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. The Bloodmobile will be at Woodward Parkway School on Monday, February 23, between the hours of 4 and 8 pm. The School's PTA needs donations from the public so that there is blood when it is needed. All school families will be covered for their future blood needs if the quota is attained. in Pantomime Robert B. Campbell of Far- mingdale performed in \A Kaleidoscope of Illusions,\ presented by the Central Pan- tomime Theater Company of Central Methodist College. The troupe performed Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, in the Central Methodist College Little Theater. Pantomime is wordless and frequently propless. The mime communicates with his audience, commenting on human feeling and predicaments through gesture, body movement and facial expression - often slowed, enlarged and stylized. Campbell is a junior majoring in religion at Central Methodist. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Campbell Sr., ,98 Beechwood St. As a member, Campbell will travel with the troupe on its annual spring tour, March 21-28. Central Methodist College is a career-oriented liberal arts college in Fayette, Mo., ap- proximately midway between St. Louis and Kansas City. Admission is free. Traditions \Italian Traditions Old and New\ will be the special program featured at the February 24 meeting of the Italian Cultural Society of Farmingdale. Dr. Joseph Tursi, PHD of Stonybrook University, will conduct the program, at the South Branch Library, beginning at 8:30 p.m. for the public. A general business meeting will take place at 7:45 p.m., prior to the public program. Refreshments will be served by the Italian Cultural Society for all those who wish to attend.
