Eagle Estates Iren- L. Finger , GR 5-8338 At the last general meeting of the Eagle Estates Civic Associ- ation Dr. Thomas Looby, super- intendent of the Patchogue-Med- ford School District was a very inte resting and most informative guest speaker. He informed the gathe ring that the new school will be situated in the north west come r of the Eagle Estates De- velopment , just off Wave Avenue. A new semi-circular street will be constructed ln front of the school called Eagle Drive and the school therefore will be called the Eagle Drive School Contracts were signed Friday and con- struction is expected to begin ' approximately March 1 , 1965. The architect is George Dippell of Massapequa. The school will be ready to open Se ptember 1, 1966. The Eagle Drive School is con- sidered to be a very large school and will be operated as * two unit school with a capacity of 1200 pupils. (Grade s Kindergar- ten throug h sixth) . Ace Watkina , administrative assistant of el- ' ementary instruction , who attend- ed the meeting with Dr. Looby, showed slides of the interior oi the school. He stated that the school would contain such things as: 45 classroom s four kinder- garten classes , facilities for 3 Gym Stations , a stage , murse ' e suite , music practice rooms , li- brary, which they hope to have completely stocked and ready for use opening day, remedial read- ing room, faculty room , cafeter- ia with a movable partition and another smaller room so that pupils will be able to bring their lunches even though they do not live too far away; and extensive playgrounds. Also present at the meeting were Bernard Williams , . principal of Tremcnt Avenue School andCharles Hamm of Med- ford , a member stl the board of educatlfe. . Famed Ace Advisor For WWII PSay SAYVILLE -The Sayville Mu- sical Workshop has announced that the famed war ace . Air Force Col. Francis S. Gabreski , will serve as • technical advis or during tbe production of an or- iginal play, \Nor AU Your Tears. \ The play written , by County judge George F.X. Mc Inerney, is a drama of an Air Corps squadron during World War II. Col. Gabreski served in the European Theater during World War ll, and was a member of the famous Fifty-Sixth Fighter GrouR. He is credited with de stroying 37 enemy aircraft and is the top liv- ing air ace in the United States. Considered one of the nation ' s most decorated flyers of the European Theater , the colonel presently serve s as Wing com- mander at the Suffolk County Air Force Base , in Westhamp- ton Beach. Col. Gabreski will review all technical military material in the play, and offer advice and sug- gestions during rehearsals and production. \After reading the script I find this to be a power- ful , authentic and thoroughly moving play. I look forward to participating , \ the colonel said. Muriel Byrne s , producer of \Nor AH Your Tears , \ said , \We are delighted to have Col. Gabreski as technical advisor. His combat experience and Air Force career will be ot great help: ' The play ls in production and rehearsal, and will be seen at Sayville High School February 19 , 20 , 26 and 27. Founders ' D«f :P owor Squadron Dinner Fell . 13 At Its first meeting of the year , held January 8 , at the Suffolk Boat Club , the Patchogue Bay Power Squadron presented plans for its Winter social season. Commander Harold Bill&rd of Bayport announced that the an- nual Founders ' Day dinnerwillbe held February 13 , at the Repub- lican club house on Atlantic Ave- nue , Blue Point. \This affair commemorates the founding of the United States Power Squadrons , on February 8 , 1914. Chairman of this event is Lieutenant Commander Wal- ter H. Hillen of 117 Bailey Ave- nue , Patchogue. The co-chairman in charge of arrangements ls Lt. William Jursik of Lake Ron- konkoma. Tickets for this din- ner may be obtained from the chairman. Featured will be a prime ribs of beef dinner , en- tertainment , and dancing to the music of Link Andrews and his Combo. Many honored guests are expected to attend , including the commanders of all the local squadrons making up District 3 (All of Long Island) . After the dinner , two special awards will be made. The first will be a Simpson 50-watt ship- to-shore radio with five crystals. The second will be a Channel Master 10 transistor portable radio , capable of receiving on three bands , short wave , long wave , and broadcast A.M.
