The dinner and dance , which was to be held Saturday night but postponed because of the snow , will be held at 8 p.m. this Saturday. Final arrangements were made at a meeting January 6 by the committee of Cub Scout Pack 49 who is sponsoring a movie show- ing \Tonka \ and cartoons at the school auditoriu m at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and at 2 p.m. Satur- day. The monthly pack night meeting has been postpon- ed until January 29 at 7:30 p.m. Van ©uords Hold Prill at OH Terminal Members of Patchogue ' s Van Guard Hose Co. recently conducted an Inspection and drill at die Patch- ogue Oil Terminal. Following the exercise , the vamps commended the terminal management on the \ general housekeeping \ and other precautionary measures that have been adopted at the river front enterprise. NEWS By Pat Kell y With all the snow we have had lately, Selden vamps are glad that there has not been too many alarms during the pest weok, There was a silent alarm from Hawkins Path January 11 , and January 12 an automobile fire at Jericho Turnpike and Hand- some Avenue end also a Fire Police meeting in the evening. Company 2 met January 13 , wlth eight men ln attendance and Capt. Jim Tierney In charge. There was a false alarm on Days Ave- nue January 15 , a house fire on Holiday Park Drive January 16 , and the week wound up as usual with a Sunday drill. The ambulance answered the followin g calls: January 11 , Cath- erine Drive to Smithtown Gen- eral; January 12 , Jefferson Street , Centereach , to Mather Memorial; January 13 , Route 25 and Bicycle Path to Se Charles ; January 14 , Capri Road to Smith- town General; and January 16 , Adirondack Drive to Brookhaven. The Ladle s Auxiliary met Jan- uary 12 with 17 ladies present and Vice President Barbara Nor- en in charge of the meeting. Contestants from West Islip and Lindenhurst competed ln the contest with Gregory, but Seton ' s senior came out on top. Our county commlttemen were all present at this meeting, and the subject was about the pur- chasing of the banner , \One Na- tion Under God\ , to be flown beneath the American Flag on the Nation ' s flag poles. Subjects of Boys State , child welfare and book covers were also discussed. On January 11 , our post held its first meeting of the month at our post hall , and we spoke also about the banner to be flown under the American Flag at our post. We also spoke about the book covers to be distributed to the school s In Greater Pat- chogue. Past Commander Tony Roy made the distribution to these s chools. These book covers went to the fifth and sixth grade of all these grades , River Avenue , Bay Avenue , Medord Avenue , Barton Avenue , and Tremont. Competing bands will come from Brentwood , Sayville , M iddle Island , Northport , West Sayville , Blue Point , Kings Park , St. James , Medford and Holbrook. At half-time , the Silve r Queens will perform. This is a twirling team that became national group champions h. Phil- adelphia last August.
