New Group to Meet Today To Study Cty Problems Suffolk County ' s recently ap- pointed Economic Opportunity Advisory Council will meet today at the County Center. In calling this first meeting, Suffolk County Commissioner of Labor , Lou V . Tempera, chair- man of the council , stated that a full review of the problems facing the county and the types of pro- grams that will be formulated are the main Items on the agenda. The members of the council will have full opportunity to discuss the long range objectives and to become acquainted with the pro- jects already submitted to Wash- ington . County Executive H . Lee Den- nison and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors , Evans K. Griffing, will welcome the council and of- ficially charge the members with their responsibilitie s in Suffolk County s \War on Poverty. \ The Economic Opportunity Ad- visory Council w ill coordinate and review all phases of the county- w ide anti-poverty program. The Bureau of Economic Opportunity will operate under the plans and proposals recommended by the Council and will serve as the functioning arm of the council. The council , as time goes on , will invite a number of com- munity agencies and local neigh - borhood community action com - mittees to supplement the council , itself , by serving on many of the project sub-committees. In this way, the council' s responsi- bilities will be greatly expanded into all areas of the anti-poverty program. Choir The A Cappella Choir of Earl L. Va ndermeulen High School in Port Jefferson will present a ben efi t concert at 8:15p.m., Jan- uary 16 in the high school auditor- ium to help defray the necessary ex penses of sendi ng 115 members to perform at a music educators * conference in Buffalo February 5-6. * Dr. William C. Heugh , super - vising principal of the Port Jefferson Schools, pointed out that considerable financial as- sistance for the project was pro - vided in the district ' s budget. However , additional fund s are needed to permit the choir to accept the Invitation to perform at the 1965 Buffalo Conference , jointly sponsored by theEastern Division of the Music Educator National Conference and the New York State School Music As- sociation. Und er the direction of Mrs. Eva lyn Still , Port J efferson ' s A Cappella Choir will be one of two choirs from New York State to conduct demonstrations before music educators from New York and numerous eastern states. Since its organization in 1950 by Mrs. Still , the A Cappella Choir has received continued recognition as one of the finest high school chora l groups in New York State. Benedetto , son of Mr . and Mrs. James Benedetto of Bayport , was recently selected as a member of \Who ' s Who \ in Colleges and Universities.
