Two new sets of regulations, just adopted by the State De- partments of Taxation and Finance and Motor Vehicles, el- iminate this requirement because a need no longer exists for it. Until now , semi-trailers wcr* * required to have captions staring their unladen weight , maximum load , and maximum gross weight. These captions were used in con- nection with levying vehicle reg- istration fees and truck mileage taxes. Changes ln the registration fee structure for semi-trailers and in methods cf enforcing the truck mileage tax have now eliminated the need , department spokesmen explained. The new regulations apply only to semi-trailers and not to other types of vehicle s which must con- tinue to display the captions , as before. Many years •go , furni- ture stores fe atured Dix , seven and even eight piece living room sets all in the s a me wood fln- Ishf . This KING finish usually was. either mahogany, walnut or maple. Very often the fab- ric and color on the up- holstered pieces were all Identical. Although many peop le still prefe r to use the same wood finishes throughou t the living room , the trend throug h the years ha* been to get away from sets or suites of living room fur- nitures by using many dif- ferent finishes in the same room very effectively. As a matter of fact , many leading decorators prefer using different wood fin- ishes and even different periods in the same room. Cne of the loveliest liv- ing rooms I have seen bod a mahogany piano , a mod- ern sofa , two Early Amep- ' lean maple chairs , a white marble top cocktail table with black base , and a fruit- wood French Provincial breakfronf. However , all the colors and textures of . the floor coverings , fab- rics , lamps , draperies and walls were beautifully . blended.
