Last year hundreds of parents were shocked when they discovered that their children returned from their trick or treat rounds with booby trapped \ goodies \ Halloween pranksters have caused tragic accidents Children have returned with concealed sharp items such as pins and razor blades in app les Popcorn made or altered with mothballs or soap* Candy bars with hidden needles One of the most serious accidents occurred when a homeowner greeted a small group of children with a shotgun blast Two children were treated for back and leg wounds The following suggestions may be helpful to protect your children 1) Always accompany your children 2) Avoid darkened houses. A lig hted house usually means welcome 3) Avoid calling upon known cranks Know the area where your children are making their calls. 4) Instruct your children not to eat any of the treats until you have examined them. 5) Unpackaged items should be discarded 6) Wash and Cut fruit into small sections before eating 7) Carefully examine candy bars to make certain that foreign objects have not been inserted. 8) Avoid dark streets. 9) Dress or costumes shcxj ld be bright or white so that your \Goblin \ will not be an accident satistics because he was not seen , especially at dusk or dark.
