With a sincere desire to serve, and with ill will toward none, the Press will seek to be newsy and interesting’. The new paper is operating’ from its own plant at 23 Ridge Road -- the only newspaper plant. incidentally, in this city. Priest, Safe Here, Tells Of His Escape From The Press is a “paid” paper, in the sense that it goes only to subscribers who have paid for it, and to those buyin_g it on . newsstands. Several hundred families have subscribed to the new 1 paper in advance of the issue. Tonight, Friday, in celebration of the start of a new newspaper in Lackawanna, the uf and plant of the Press will be the scene of an “open house,” with city o mer- chants and citizens invited to drop in and get acquainted. Stephen Lacke- Vic, D.D.. new pastor of Sacred Elem-L of Jesus Church at 108 Ridge Rd., addressed an ‘Archbishop Srvpiiiac Day’ meeting. Rev. Fr. Lac-kovic, who came to this city in March, disclosed how he himself came near arrest. Had he remained in Jugoslavia he un- -lnulvtedly would have heep jailed, for from 1941 to ‘I945 he was the A1-chbis-hop’s secretary and natu- rally close to his affairs. In 1945, shortly after the Reds under Tito came into power, Fr. Laclmvic was sent to Rome on a mission.
