Wheeler, the assistant chemist of the State board of health, in his report to the 'board of his examinations of coffee, tea and cocon says he examined 42 samples of coffee, tea and cocoa, which were collected from retail grocery stores in different parts of the State, The examination demonstrated that much of the ground and package coffee sold is [adulterated by: the addition of foreign sub- stances, generally harmless. | Many artific- inl coffee beans bave been discovered. Ten is frequently mixed with \tes dust\ and \ten ribs,\ but there i little evidence to show that other foreign substances are used. The cocon is generally free from objection- able adulterations. j alll... ba- Smark One of the smartest insects on earth is the mud-manon wasp; of Brazil. But it does not kill them, because they would de- cay and make a bad smell. It morely i wounds those spiders, so that they live, but are belpless. 'Then it shots them in the cells.
