DEPETSTER NEWS ITEMS Gleaning house seems to be the order of the day at present\. People have commenced to work the land. We are having quite nice weather now, it.is a little cool for May weather. Ralph Mayne was operated on at the Hepburn Hospital Saturday morning, and he is doing as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Will Morris and son Fred, motored over to Lisbon Sunday, and spent the day with there son, Merton. He is running a factory for the Condenced Milk Co. of Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Will Morris and Fred and Charles Morris and Elsie spent Sunday in Ogdensburg, and Elsie called on Mrs. Breaky at the Hospital and we were glad to know that she is getting along well, hope she will be able to return home soon. Leon Kirby called at Will Morris' Wednesday night. - Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ward spent Monday in Ogdensburg. Mr. and Mrs. Will Morris and Fred v spent Friday in DeKalb with there daughter, Mrs. Ella Downing, • \^tre. Herb. Turner is gaining 4 can cooling st, never been used. Mrs. N* M Connolly who has been spending a couple of weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Mayne, left Friday afternoon to join her husband at Camp Devens. Miss Jennie Steele, has returned home after spending several weeks at Hermon. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Taylor of Gouvemeur were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Thraves, Sunday. A daughter was born to Prof, and Mrs. G. Carl Alverson, of Syracuse, April 24th. Mr.' Alver- son is now principal of the Porter school in Syracuse, The complete list of those who have purchased one or more of the Third Liberty Loan Bonds of this district will be published in this paper next week. Two splendid sermons at the M. E. Church were listened to last Sunday. Rev. Mr. Felshaw, the new pastor, is a very interesting speaker. Mrs. Bristol who has been quite ill the past week or so is reported improving. Heuvelton now is flying the \Lib- erty Bond Flag\ from the top of the Post Office building. Heuvelton has gone \over the top\ in its sub- scriptions to the Third Liberty Bonds. Miss. Inez Middleton of Lisbon was the week end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smithers. KENDREW DEIS The pleasant spring weather of the past few days has been very acceptable to the farmers who have begun their spring's work. The death of Jas. Thompson an old and respected resident of this destrict occured at his home on Saturday morning, Funeral took place Monday from the home at one o'clock, Rev. Robson officiating with intermentin Kendrew ceme- tery. De epest sympathy is extend- ed to the bereaved ones. Mr. and Mrs. John Dewan of Heuvelton spent Sunday at the home of Oeorge Laraby. Charles Thayer left Monday for Gouvemeur to join a contingment of soldiers who left for Camp Dix on Tuesday. C lyde Randal is spending a few days at Frank Childs. About noon Tuesday a fire broke broke out in the dwelling of Reuben\ Childs and although everything was done to save the house, it was of no avail and in a short time wag burn- ed to the ground. Most of the furniture was saved and some of the things in the cellar. The wind was blowing in a direct- ion toward the barns and by the heroic efforts of the men, no damage was done them. Through the columns of the Bee Mr. Childs wishes to thank all who worked so earnestly in his behalf. Violet Stevens spent Wednesday in Ogdensburg. . Mrs. Fred Woodcock and daugh- ter Dorothy, spent Wednesday in Heuvelton. The following spent Monday eveninging in Gouvemeur, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Thayer and daughter Hilda, Leon and Clyde Colton, Stanley Wood, Efford Spring and Glenn Streeter.
