Tbe body has been lying iu tb* canal from tbat time until March 33, 1884, it having floated front East I-ockport to Gosport, wher# is wss discover ed by Cbas. Hadley. Then he returned to the sa loo ii but his uncle was not there. He did not search any further and had not seen or heard from him until this body was found iu the caual. He also swore to tbe clothes worn, which corresponded with thoseon the • drowned man. Another witness from Lock- , port swore to the shirt, which was tlio same as tbe one worn by John Carlin threeor four days before disappearance. Tlie body was decomposed and coverod with mud, and had an indenture over the right eyo as if some hard substance had struck it either before or after drowning.
