Frick, chairman of the Carnegie Company, said it was the intention of the firm to go ahead peace- fully, and as quickly as possible, in the conduct of their affairs. \As we have failed to arrive at an amicable adjustment of the question at jssuo with the Amalgamated Associat- ion, we have decided to adhere to our determination to have nothing more to do with that organization or its officers. It will be neecssary, I have no doubt, to obtain a certain amount of outside labor to fill the places of the men who as members of the Amaigamated Asso- ciation will refuse to go to work under our new system, and. whom, in fact, we could not consistently take again into our employ.
