OPERA HOUSE OPENING \Alaska whieli •comes tcr Bent's Opera House Tuesday ovoaing.Sepi. 22, is one of Lincoln J. Carter's most successful melodramas, and during its run last season broke many records throughout tho East whore it was mostlyjplayed. This play i s somewhat difloreat from the ordinary in that it contains a vein of weirdness that takes it away from the ordinary melodrama. This element is furn- ished by the belief of a tribo of Northern Indians that a smoulder- ing volcano is tho personification of deity. Gold hunters discover gold in the mountain, but the Indians refuse to allow them to work the claim for fear of inciting the anger of tho slumbering god. At the proper time the mountainjbreaks into eruption. This ia a moBt clever idea and is neatly worked out. cast$[J 18 large aud carefully selected among the pick of the thoatrical profession, and play their lines in a clever, enthusiastic way that never fails to hold an audience from the start to the finish. - A^#e8;farrnef who attended the c^Uhfcy fai?# Albion Saturday filled ^n On, re'djemonade, or some other; iiquid>. that ma4e him act gay with tb^e.
