Mr. and Mrs. Miller left Ro chester June 24 al 7 a.m. for New York, where they boarded a Pan American flight to Fair banks, Alaska, then to Tokyo, Japan, where they stayed over night. They next morning, they flew to Hong Kong, China, where they were met by their son and daughter-in-law, Capt. and Mrs. Harold F. Miller of Banghok, Thailand, who had arrived at the airport only 45 minutes e arlier. Capt. Miller and his wife and his parents spent two days sight seeing ln Hong Kong. They then spent a few days at the Dust- tani Hotel tn Banghok. While ln Banghok, they visited many points of interest. Including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, farm ers' markets and snake farm. They then flew to Udom ln Northeast Thailand, where they spent several days at tbe home of their son. Captain and Mrs. Mil ler and Ujetr three sons, Treg, 10, Lane, 7 and Bret, 3. Captain Miller and his family have lived ln Saigon and Thailand for the past four y ears. On July 4, the Millers (Mark and Jane) left for their return trip home, accompanied by their son, Capt. Miller, and his family, leaving Banghok airport at 9:30 p.m., arriving at Bombay, India, Lod airport ln Tel Aviv, Israel, where they visited shops In tbe terminal. From Israel, they went to Frankfort, Germany, and Am sterdam, Holland, where they again visited several sbops at the air terminal. They flew over Glasgow, Scotland, and on to Mon treal, Canada, where they r e turned home by c a r, They spent one night at tbe Mark Miller sum mer home in Croghan. The fol lowing day tbe Mark M illers and their son and daughter-in-law and their three sons left Watertown airport for New York, where they boarded a plane for San Fran cisco, Calif., where they then left by car for Sacremento, Calif., to visit Mr.and Mrs. JamesSpen- cer, parents of Capt. M iller's wife, and her brother,Davtd Spen cer, and adopted Japanese sis ter, Marlene. Also Mrs. (Susan) Miller’s grandmother, M rs. Edltb Northern, along with many other relatives and friends a t Capt. Miller and his wife. This is the first meelng of the Millers and C a p t Miller's wife's family to eleven years. On July 10, they motored to San Jose, where they visited Mr, and Mrs. Cal vin Moore and family and were their luncheon guests. M r. Moore and Capt. Miller were In the s e r vice together. The Miller fami lies arrived to Rochester at t l p.m. on a Monday and the fol lowing day they motored to Cro ghan, where Capt. and Mrs. Mil ler and sons spent several days vacationing a t their camp at J e r - den Falls. C a p t Miller returned to Udora, Thailand, on August 2. Mrs. Mil ler and her three sons will re main here until later in the fall. Mr. MUler concluded a three weeks' vacation and returned to his work on July 17 at East man Kodak to Rochester. Larry Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Miller spent sometime in Croghan visiting his brother, C a p t MUler and family. Capt and Mrs. MUler attend ed the 15th anniversary celebra tion of the graduating class of Beaver River Central School, of which Capt. Miller was a mem ber. A banquet was held at Cas toriand Hotel this is the first time that Capt. Miller has been home for this event since his gradua- Uon In 1957, He enlisted to the Air Force and spent five years ln Japan. He then enlisted to the Army warrant office train ing program for helicopter pilots. He has been a pilot for seven years. Enroute home they made a “ side trip” to Statellne, Nev., I John and saw the \Pondersa Ranch,1 which ts a popular T.V. series. Miss Lots Zehr, daughter of Mr. and M rs. Anthony Zehr, and Miss Delores Zehr, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Zehr, returned home July 21 after spending the past ten months to Haiti. Accompanying them home were Pastor and Madam Ducasse and two of their six children, who are all natives of Haiti. Ac companying their parents were thetr oldest child Frantz, age 9, and their youngest child Daniel, age IS months. While ln Haiti, Lots and Do lores resided al theDucasse home along with three other Ameri can girls who all worked inadis- pensory with Haitian girls whodo the work (tf nursing. Some days there were as many as 60 pa tients, Including those who came each day for shots. Some came for an Interview with the Doctor and treatment and returned home the sam e day. Mrs. Harold DeLaPorte ac companied Mrs. Frank Davts and Mrs. Aloyslus VerSchnelder to Buffalo last Friday, where she visited her brother, W.J. Strife, a patient at Roswell Park Mem orial Hospital. Accompanying them home was Miss Cecelia Martin who was discharged on Friday, Aug. 11, firom Roswell Park Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since June 4. She is recuperating at the home of h e r brother and sis* ter-In-Xaw, Mr. and M rs. Austin Martin, George Street, Croghan. Arthur G. Buckingham, his wife and daughter, Elizabeth, 8, have returned to thetr home In Balti more, Md., after spending two weeks vacationing here, visiting Mr. Buckingham's parents, Mr. and M rs. Arthur Buckingham, Belfort. They also visited his brother, Francis Buckingham, and his wife and family a t a cottage a t Brantingham. Richard Burkhard, Convent Street, was admitted to Lewts County General Hospital oo Sun day, Aug. 6 , and was transferred to the House a t the Good Samari tan, Watertown, on Monday, where he ts undergoing observation. Leo Andre, 57, an employee at Beaverite Products, Inc., Bea ver FaUs, was Injured Tuesday, Aug. 8, where he fell from a ladder whfle at work. He was taken to Lewts County General Hospital, where an Xray revealed a fractured heel. He was trans ferred the sam e day to Mercy Hospital, Watertown, where be remains a patient. Mrs. H arriet Fouler, wife of Ed Fouler, and daughter, Mary Ann, of Westfield, called on Mrs. Walter DeLaPorte during the past week. The Fouler* were resi dents a t Croghan and Beaver Falls several yaers ago. Mr. Fouler was agriculture teacher at Beaver Rtver Central School. Mrs. Walter DeLaPorte enter tained at a dinner an Friday Mr. and M rs. Edward vtrkler, Low vUle, their daughter, Nancy and her husband, Don Padden, and three children of Flushing, L.I. and M rs. C laries Felsthamel of Lowville. Mrs. M argaret Adams, wife ol Vernon Adams, who has hew a patient a t Lewis Comity General Hospital undergoing t therapy treatment for an a rthritis condi tion h as returned home. M r. and Mrs. George Kloster of Beaver FaUs, parents of two hemophiliac children asked Fath er Anthony Moore, O.F.M., pas tor a t St. Stephen's, Croghan, to express thanks to a ll who con tributed to tbe success of the blood clinic which was such a great success. A total of 207 pints of blood were donated. The Klosters' will receive 51 pints for their two sons. Fred Lelstng, 92, and his quested in advance. The descendants of the family of John and Julia Adams held their annual reunion a t the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A- dams on Sunday, July 13. Clifford (Connie) Joslln, secretary, of Rochester, read the minutes of last year's meeting. The newly elected se cretary for the coming year is Mrs. James (Mary) Reed. Out of town relatives present were from Rochester, Massena, Lyons FaUs, LowviUe, New Bremen and Croghan. Sister Joseph Patricia, O A F ., of Holy C ross Convent, Bronx, has been a recent guest of Mr. and M rs. JuUus Meyer and of Mr. and M rs. Morris Hartman at a cottage at Sweets Mill, Long Pond Rond. She also visited other friends in Croghan and area. Mr. and M rs. Richard M arril- ley and family bave returned to their home to McLean, Va., af ter spending a week here visiting Mr, Marllley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph MarlUey. Mrs. Mona Donovan and her granddaughters, Amy and Katie Towers, of HUton. have returned .home after spending a week here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold Martin, Shady Avenue. Dawn Hliz and Barbara Del- mater of Massapequa, L.L, have returned home a fter spending two weeks with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Meyer. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cam pany are parents of their sixth child. A son, Calvin Hall, was horn Aug. 2 at Lewis County Gen eral Hospital, weighing ten pounds . and two and one half ounces. The couple has three daugh ters, Michelle, Melanie and Mar cia, and two o ther sons, Richard and Gary. M rs. Earl Lehman. Mr. Lehman, a native of C roghan, Is the son of the late Joseph and MoIUe Lehman. The couple has four sons; John, Clark and Stephen of Goshen, Ind., and Sid ney, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Joseph (Norma) Anderson was admitted to Lewis County General Hospital last Thursday and underwent surgery on Friday. She Is expected to return home this week. M rs. There were 36 present. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schulz have opened a soft ice cream stand on lower Main Street. Mr. and M rs. Schulz and three child ren moved from their home in Rochester tn August 1971 to Cro ghan and purchased the home o f Mr. and Mrs. Mark Zehr.
