Gouverneur Fair A Success October 4, 1989 -The Tribune-Presa, Gouverneur, N.Y. - Page 3 GOUVERNEUR-Win- ners of a total of $41,797.59 in 1989 premiums awarded by the Gou- verneur and St. Lawrence County Fair have been paid. Anita Turner, secre- tary-treasurer, stated that the last of the premiium checks were mailed Sept. 7 to 4-H exhibitors and clubs. Since it was not neces- sary to borrow funds to pay these premiums and to meet the other finan- cial obligations, the Fair will end the 1989 year in the black. Exhibitors are urged to cash their checks immedi- ately since they are void after Nov. 1 to enable compilation of the manda- tory fi nancial report to the new York State Depart- ment of Agriculture and Markets and due in Al- bany by Dec. 15. - \A total of $26,724.24 comes from the Gou- verneur Agricultural and •Mechanical Society and $15,073.35 from the St. Lawrence County Agricul- tural Society. Gouverneur Agricul- tural and Mechanical Society premiums and purses included: $17,280.99 in harness races; $5,194.25 in the open class departments, and $4,249 for youth groups. In the youth groups, $1,894 went to high school bands; $1,000 to the FFA Department; $225 for -spelling bee winners; $1,000 to high school queen contestants and $100 for one junior grange. In the open classes, $2,104 went to light horse show contestants; $316.75 to flower show exhibitors; $400 to three subordinate granges and Pomona Grange; $50 to St. Law- rence County Cooperative Extension; $50 to the St. Lawrence County Federa- Voter Deadlines Approaching St. Lawrence County Election Commissioners Robin St. Andrews and Jackie White remind the public that the last day for registering to vote by mail •israpidly approaching. All mail registration applica- tions must be received by the board or postmarked no later than Oct. 10 to be eligible for the Nov. 7, General Election. Anyone who has MOVED since they last registered must re-register in orderto vote in the election.
