We are all look- ing forward to our time together. The fifth grade classes, their teachers and some of their moms as chaperones climbed Bear Mountain Friday, Sept. 22. This is an annual event for the Clifton-Fine fifth grade students. Wednesday, * Sept. 13, Herschel and Emily Dowl- ing left on a trip to Oregon to visit an Army buddy of hisfrom World War II. The Dowlings arrived safely in Oregon on Sunday, Sept 17 and reported they were having a good time. Hope you enjoyed your trip very much folks. Mary Adams spent sev- eral days in the hospital recently with penumonia. Mary is home now and is doing better. Ann and Geroge Chapman of Koch ester spent the weekend of Sept. 22 with her dad, Dale Adams, and family so she could visit her mother. Janice Mclntosh spent Sept. 20 - 26 with her grandparents, Sam and Charlotte Dowling. When theScotts heard that Hugo was headed their way they went shopping for foods that could be eaten with- out heating, batteries for their flashlights and duct tape for their windows. They reported that the hard hurricane winds sounded like a freight train right outside ,the house. . - . • The Scotts said their deck fence was brought down, the basket ball backboard crashed to the ground and took the wind- shield out of their car and debris was scattered all over. The street had been lined with oak trees, which were all broken by the terrible wind. Trees that Ivan had taken from his woodlot near Blue Moun- tain and planted in his yard are still standing. The welcome and an- nouncement.^ were done by Charlotte Dowling. This was following by the pledge to the American Hag, the Christian flag and the Bible. Mildred Ward's Beginners Class held the flags and Bible - Zachary Northrop, Emerson Northrop, Joshua Wendt and Sammy Dowling II. Ushers for the day were Jodi Russell and Janice Mclntosh. . -Mary Ward and Sue Finch made the presenta- tion of awards. Receiving first year perfect atten- dance pins were Sammy Dowling II, Zachary Northrop, Emerson Northrop, Jeremy Clark, Tammy Clark and Chrissie Clark; Tuesday Morehouse received her fifth year perfect atten- dance bar while Janet Spicer,J.J.
