An extensive search has been conducted since Nov 25 by State Police, Con- servationists, Military Personnel, Local Firemen, Kescue teams and Volun- teers, for Jamie Howard, son of Mr and Mrs Hay Howard, Antwerp Jamie became separated from his com- panions on Friday about dusk on Nov 24. The Antwerp Auxiliaries have been dointf a fine job of suppling coffee and food to all searchers with the help of local residents donating food and money They're also, had donations from stores in Watertown and (iouverneur and Philadelphia. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fish- beck and I^aurie of Michigan City, Ind. were Friday night guests of his father, Ralph Fishbeck. They visited his mother at Cedar Nursing Home. On Friday night they had a get-to-gether at thier father's. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fishbeck and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fishbeck and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smithers of Spile Bridge Road. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Mayhew and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mayhew and two children of Ogdensburg. The UMW of DePeyster met Wednesday afternoon at the church with 10 members present. It was voted to give $300 to the expense fund of the church. A food and Christmas articles sale will be held at Community Room in Heuvelton Thursday, Dec. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone is asked to please donate food or other articles. The regular slated meeting of DePeyster OES No. 60 was held Wednesday evening with Matron Dorothy Mayhew presiding. Mrs. Ruth Ayen was initiated into the order. Memorial service was con- ducted in memory of W Mrs. I>eila Perry and W William Bert Fleetham. At the next meeting Dec. 12, election of officers will be held, also a Christmas exchange of gifts and covered dish supper. Mrs. Helen Hilborne is a patient at Hepburn Hospital. Madrid-Waddington teacher honored Mrs. Marion Mclntosh of the Madrid-Waddington Central School is a recent recipient of the Fellows Award from the Science Teachers Association of New York State. The citation is presented yearly for distinguished service in science teaching and \active participation in professional scientific organizations/' Mrs. Mclntosh is only the third educator from the Northern Zone to have received the award in its 23 year history. She teaches Biology, Chemistry, and assorted Junior High classes at Madrid Waddington Central School. The award was presented at the Nevele Hotel in Ellenville, before an audience of over a-4heusand- attending the 78th annual meeting of the Science Teachers Association of New York State. Gouverneur, N.Y December 5, 197 J The search for missing hunter James A Howard, 19 of Antwerp, was continuing Monday morning as State Police, Forest Hangers, members of the En- vironmental ('observation Department and Volunteers comb the main artillery impact area of the Camp Drum Military Reservation The youth disappeared Friday, Nov 23, following a days hunting trip with three companions from Antwerp The four left at 5 i0 a.in. Friday morning to hunt in the woods on the Camp Drum reservation in area well known to Howard and his companions. At about G 15 p.m. the group came out of the woods, descending from a rocky bluff to the Rockwell Creek Road at a point inside the impact area which is stricktly off limits to everyone because of \duds\ - • unexploded rockets and mortar rounds. No one has seen Howard since When he failed to appear the other hunters walked to Antwerp, a distance of several miles and returned in a vehicle to search for the missing youth His disappearance was reported to the State Police early Saturday morning and the official search began.
