These articles and many more will be featured at the Sale this Thursday and Friday from 9-9 in the Com- munity Room of St. Lawrence National Bank. Decorating without lights challenge of competition It has been resolved by the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce to sponsor a Christmas home decorating contest — with a difference. Prizes of $25, $15 and $10 will he awarded for non- illuminated decorations. The Gouverneur press corps will be in charge of the contest. The group includes Elizabeth Norton, Syracuse Post Standard, Jeanne Tyler, Watertown Daily Tunes; Nat Natali, WIGS Radio Station, and Virginia Reuss, The Tribune Press. Entries may be made by apartment dwellers, also, of the Christmas season. It was explained that the municipal power and power for ornamental lighting is provided by the village Oswegatchie hydroplant, and places no demand on public utilities. The chamber urges economy of power in residential and commercial decoration and asks that the village green be recognized as official Christinas lighting, to be enjoyed by all. The lights will be turned on from dark until 10 or 11 p.m. This will be approximately one fifth of the time they have been lighted in years past. WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 28. 1973 Dog ordinance conies to vote On Tuesday, Dec. 11, village voters will be asked to vote in a special election on a proposed dog ordinance. Voting hours will be from noon to 9 p.m. in the village court room of the municipal building. The ordinance, as proposed, would prohibit dogs from running at large on any street or public place unless restrained by a chain or leash or attended by a person able to control its action. Youth center activities announced % Activities of the People's', Place have been announced by the Gouverneur Youth Development Corporation. Friday, Nov. 30, an evening of co-ed swimming is planned at Canton Middle School Pool, from 7 to 9 p.m. Departure from the center will be at 6:15. There is a maximum of 30 people. Wednesday night rap sessions are held at the youth center, conducted by graduate students from St. Lawrence University. Responsible adults are needed to chaperone at the People's Place. Volunteers re asked to call 287-1050. A wall mirror is needed, and the same number may be called by anyone having a mirror to donate. m There will be a meeting ot the Gouverneur Youth Development Corporation Monday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church basement.
