The new format for the familiar guide uses a larger type, more headings and a better index system Also, most special fishing regulations are now listed -by county so that they are more easily located In the past, such special regulations were listed by fish species, a less convenient breakdown Unfortunately, with all the improvement, a typographical error still managed to creep in unseen On page 21. the closing date for black bass is incorrectly shown as Sept 30 The correct closing date is Nov 30 As most serious anglers know, some of the best bass fi&hing occurs in the fail as fish feed actively in response to cooling waters and ap- proaching winter The license year in New York State runs from Oct 1 through Sept 30 so sportsmen who plan to hunt or fish after Sept » will need their new 1973-74 license?
