More on Hermon storm- By SHIRLEY BLANDIN A storm, termed as a twister or cyclone struck the village of Hermon on the afternoon of Aug. 7 and left multiple destruction in its wake. Trees were literally ripped from the ground and wires were downed. A garage on the Roy Jenne property was smashed and a trailer belonging to Mr and Mrs. Nelson Carpenter was flipped over and demolished. A large tree was also thrown against the house of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey . .Ayers. At the trailer home of Mr. Charles Bearor a patio roof was lifted off and dropped behind the trailer and Mr. Bearor's Sno Mobile, which WAS parked at the end of the trailer, was picked up and flung into some brush nearby. Thanks are given that it was only property that was damaged and that no lives were lost or persons injured. The Hermon Volunteer Firemen and Ladies Auxiliary participated in the Gouverneur - St. Lawrence Co. Fair Firemen* Parade on the evening of Aug. 8. The Ladies Auxiliary was awarded second place. Guests of Mrs. Louella Cook and Dale for a week were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Cook and son Dale of Campbell Hall. They all spent one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Roberts and sons, Malone. Mrs. Mildred Noble, Water- town spent the past Sunday with her mother and brother, Mrs. Louella Cook and Dale. Mrs. Louella Cook and Dale; Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Cook and son Dale and Mrs. Mildred Noble spent the past Sunday touring the Seaway. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Blandin and Freddy were Mr and Mrs. William Blair and Tammy; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bailey and Nancy of Gouverneur, and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bailey and daughters Robin, Janet and Shannon of Canton. Mrs William Green and daughters Emily and Elizabeth are spending some time in Gloversville visiting Mrs. Green's mother, Mrs. Walter Williams. Mrs. Charles Johnson is a patient at the E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur for tests and observations. Mrs. Mary Alice Briffet celebrated her birthday on Aug. 9 Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hilchie, Liverpool were past weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Westurn. After a month's vacation, Church services have been resumed at the Hermon Methodist Church. Mr and Mrs. Steven Luther are parents of a baby daughter, Anita Marie, born Aug. 7 at the E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur Anita weighed in at 7 lbs. 2H fzs. Mrs. Luther is the former Vicki Roy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Roy.
