Conger Bros, had a large,steam boiler arrive hexe this week for the new saw mill that they are building in Duane. It was unloaded here Thursday and will be drawn by teams to Duane, the start being made Thursday afternoon. A person was recently fined $10-00, and the postoffice inspector collected it fop, for mailing what purported to be a newspaper at newspaper, rates but which 1 concealed a piece of fancy work that should have been mailed at the merchandise rate of one cent an ounce. Officers Todd and Hildreth arrested Fred Durant, of Brushton, last Mon- day evening at Malone on a charge of larceny and he was taken- to Utica Wednesday nights wbare , the alleged crime is said to 'have been 1 committed. Durant was in the employ of Dell Shirley on his farm west of Moira and about a week before Thanksgiving he and Shirley's fifteen year old sort Quiace disappeared, at the &ame time a check of $105 belonging to Mr. Shirley did, * the checjj was cashed by young Shirley at one of the local business places in Moira. .
