Max Mosher for many years a resi dent Of Cattaraugus, passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 69 at the home of Miss Mary Carroll’s, following an illness of five years. He was born in the town of Persia on June §th, 1&72. Mr. Mosher had been employed on the Carroll farm for over 40 years and on account of ill health gave up farming and moved to the Anderson home* on South Main. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Chester Briggs and Mrs. Ara Potter. Funeral services were' held from the B r igg’s Funeral Home, South St. Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Mrs. Elton Howard and Mrs. Marshall Gathers met with an auto accident near Seneca Junction on Monday. They were returning from Cuba when th e ' car struck an icy stretch in the road and over-turned. Occupants suffered from shock and several bruises. The car was badly damaged. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Smith of North Collins spent New Year’s Day with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dryer and family. A. * Taking advantage of the new sound system and movie facilities in the school, the P. T. A. will be treat ed to a program of two movies at its next regular meeting Monday evening in the school auditorium. The first film to be shown is titled “School” and shows a progresive educational school in action. In a carefully prepared presentation are shown a group of young children be ing trained for Democracy. This is the only film ever made in a class room with dialogue by the children w ithout commentary. Wilson entertained the Novice Bridge Club on Friday after noon. Mrs. I. B. W aters and Mrs. Grover Eldred were guests. Three tables were played and the prizes were won by Mrs. R. E. Hale, Mrs. A. C. White and Mrs. John Casten. A delicious luncheon was served at the close of the meeting. The club w ill m eet in two weeks with Mrs. A. C. W hite. Study Club The Monday Study Club met at the home of Mrs. W. K, Dayton on January 6th. Board Met The January meeting of the vil lage board was held on Monday eve ning. Olean Man Charged With Manslaughter John Martello, 50, Clean, will come to trail Jan. 27 charged with first degree manslaughter, county judge Orla E. Black said Monday at open- ign of county court when Mar tello pleaded innocent. H e had been indicted for allegedly ‘stabbing and causing the death of John Joyce in Olean on Nov. 14. Martello was represented by attorney G. Sidney Shane of Salamanca, and remains at liberty in $7500 bail. Robert E. Lounsbury, 23, Ellieott- ville, pleaded innocent Monday to an offense involving a ten-year-old child at Ashford oii Oct. 14. He was r e presented by Jesse M, Seymour, Sala manca attorney, and will come to trial Jan. 20. Bail ^ a s continued at $7500. A plea of innocent was entered for Howard I. Trainor, 52, Buffalo, accused of third degree burglary. It is charged that he broke into the Borden Co. plant at Randolph on Oct, 26, taking 16 bars of spider. He will come to trial Jan. 22, to^be represented by Mr. Shane. Fred E. Schuttecker, 2S, Bolivar, pleaded guilty to burglary third de- gi*ee at Olean on Nov. 5, ahd will bean his sentence imposed Jars. 13 hy Judge Black.
