MEREDITH Breakfast Served With Eve Party Chairman Douglas Hagen of Millwood Road, with his commit tee, is hard at work completing details for tlje^annual New Year's Eve party of Moses Taylor Jr. Post, American Legion, to be held in the Post Auditorium. Serving with Mr. Hagen on the committee will be Anthony Bian- coni, Joseph Frascino and Charles English. Dancing wiil begin at 9 and con- tineue to 2 a.m. A new innova tion this year will be the serving of breakfast so that revelers may go home and to bed and still entertain their guests at the break fast which usually was held at home, wih it mountain of dishes to he washed after the -guests left. On Dec. 17 a kindergarten teacher detected an odor of gas from a first floor', room adjoining her's. A fire alarm was sent and faculty and students marched out. Firemen form' Engine Co. 8 found a burner on a small, gas stove partly turned on, .and turned it off. Classes were then resumed. DAR Chapter In Chappaqua Given Banner At the Dec. 16th meeting of the! Chappaqua Chapter, National So ciety Daughters of the American Revolution, held at the home of Mrs. Lynde W. Tucker, it was re ported by Mrs. Charles B. Fowler that the Bake Sa'le held on Dec. 6 had been very successful, and the names of seven new members were proposed by the Assistant Membership Chairman, Mrs. Her bert T. Wilkinson. The highlight of the occasion was the presentation to the Chappaqua Chapter of its own D.A.R. banner, the gift of Miss Emily B. Anthony of Tarrytown to the Chapter Re gent, Mrs. Clifford V. Fisher, in honor of her two mothers, Mrs. Edward L. Cassell and Mrs. John H. Fisher. The presentation was made for Miss Anthony by the Chapter Chaplain, Mrs. R. Benson Ray, and received by Mrs. Fish er and the Flag Committee Chair man, Mrs. John B. Carroll. At the conclusion of the business meeting Mrs. James R. Thomson told the story of the origin and de velopment of Christmas carols, il lustrating it with selections from the different periods sung by mem bers of her singing group, with everyone joining in on those fa miliar to all. 50 STOCKINGS FILLED CROTON-ON-HUDSON — Chil dren here have filled 50 stockings for Christmas distribution to young patients at area hospitals, it was reported by Mrs. Robert V. Brown Junior Red Cross chairman. She also said the Croton-Harmon High School students will hang Christmas decorations at the V.A Hospital, Montrose. FALSE ALARM NORTH TARRYTOWN-A milk truck being pushed out of a park ing lot by another, grazed the han dle on a fire alarm box shortly after 6 a.m. today, calling out this village's five fire companies in the cold.
