Miss Jo Tyler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Tyler of Roosevelt Drive, broke her left arm in the afternoon and later in the evening Miss Marjorie North also broke her left arm. Marjorie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert North of Delano Drive. The Lions Club will again spon sor a community Christmas decor ation contest and appointed as judges were Alfred Zotolla, chair man; Donato Cristofaro and Paul Hilbrich. Three prizes will be awarded and judging will be done between Christmas and New Year's. Italian Language Class Entertained Members of the Italian Lan guage class in the Fox Lane Adult Education courses, being taught by Mrs. Joseph Rao, were guests of their teacher for an Italian dinner on Dec. 9 at her Croton Avenue home, Mount Kisco. Lasagna and meatballs and spa ghetti were the main items of the meal, with Italian being spoken by the guests and Mrs. Rao presiding in an heirloom gown belonging to her grandmother. After dinner the guests worked an Italian crossword puzzle and Mrs. Rao sang some Italian songs, accompanying herself on the ac cordion and guitar. Guests who attended included Dr, and Mrs. Robert Terris, Dr and Mrs. Nathan Binder, Miss Use Freter, Frank Bagnato, Antionette Critelli, Rose Manes, and Mrs Emily Sannapoli. Live animals will again Candlelight Service Set Christmas Eve A Christmas Eve Candlelight and Carol Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Katonah at 7:30 p. m. The service consisting largely of choir music, carols and reading of the scripture narratives, is intended for all fam ilies of the church. The Carol Choir will sing \Love Came Down at Christmas by M'ueller and a ver sion of \Silent Night\ by Gruber. The Chancel Choir, under the di rection of Richard Sutch, will sing the Ukranian carol \Carol of the Bells\ the English carol \Covent ry Carol\ the Basque carol \The Cherry Tree Carol,\ and the Eng lish carol \What Child is This.\ The Scriptures and brief Christmas Eve meditation will be given by the Rev. CANDLELIGHT SERVICE On Christmas Eve, a Candle light service \The Light of The World\ will be held from 11 until midnight. The familiar carols of Christmas, together with the con cluding service of candlelighting, will offer an appropriate climax to the Advent period of prepara tion, and a joyous prelude to Christmas morning. The public is cordially invited to all services of this church. Rev. Matthews Marries Miss Caldwell Miss Emily Louise CaMwell of 145 Babbitt Road, Bedford Hills, became the bride of the Rev. Verner R. Matthews, pastor of the Bedford Hills Antioch Baptist Church, on Saturday Dec. 13. The 2 o'clock ceremony took place at the Bedford' Hills Methodist Church with the Rev. Jonathan G. Brown, pastor of the Mount Olive Baptist Church of Hackensack, N.J., officiating. Miss Caldwell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Caldwell of Bedford Hills. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Matthews of New York. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white lace and net wedding gown fashioned with a fitted lace bodice. V-neckline trimmed with sequins and long lace sleeves. The full skirt had lace and net panels. She wore a shoulder length veil, held in place with a crown, and carried a bou quet of white carnations. Her only attendant was her sis ter, Mrs. David Vandeyar of Gold- ens Bridge, who served as ma tron of honor. Her ballerina length gown was of blue lace and she wore a matching hat. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. William Ashby of New York was best man. Ushers were Mr. Van deyar, brother-in-law of the bride; William Brown of New York, broth er-in-law of the bridegroom; and Bert Glass of Carona, N.Y. A reception followed in the Par ish House of the Methodist Church for friends and relatives. The bride is a graduate of Bed ford Hills High School, the Metro politan School of Infant Care in New York and is on the nursing staff of the Northern Westchester Hospital. The Rev. Matthews was gradu ated in 1955 with a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Shelton College, Ringwood, N.J. He has completed two years at the Biblical Semin ary in New York towards a de gree in Sacred Theology and has served as pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church since September 1957. On their return from a wedding trip, the young couple will make their home at the parsonage of the Bedford Hills Antioch Baptist Church at Bedford Hills. Bedford Hills Niece Mentioned in Will Lela K. Mrs. Momsen is the former Miss Diane Travis, daughter of Mrs. Vivian Travis of Edgemont Road, Katonah. Richard Mueller, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller of Mount Holly Road, Katonah, a freshman at Harvard, will arrive home on Sat. urday to spend the holiday season with his family. Mr. and Mrs. David Griffin who have been making their home for the past ten years or more at the Barrett homestead on Edgmont Road, Katonah, moved on Satur day to New York City. The house they have vacated has been pur chased by the First Presbyterian Church, Katonah, and will soon be in the process of being redecorated for use as the new parsonage. C. H. Hendrickson of Bedford Road, Katonah, underwent an eye operation last Friday at St. Clair's Hospital in New York City. Mr. Hendrickson expects to be home in time for Christmas with his family. Mrs. Hudson Ritch of Huntsville Road, Katonah, returned to her home on Thursday of last week from the Northern West chester Hospital where she had been confined for a few weeks with a broken hip. Thomas Hardy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hardy of High Street, Katonah, celebrated his fifth birthday on Friday wth an after noon party at his home for several little friends. Miss Margaret Busch of Long Beach, Calif, where she is principal of the Addams School, is expected to arrive home in time to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Busch of The Ter race, Katonah. Michael Leal of Deer Park Rd., Katonah, entered the Northern Westchester Hospital last Tuesday to undergo surgery on Thursday. He is expected to be confined there for ten days. The hour was chosen to enable families to attend the service together Christmas Eve in the Katonah Methodist Church will be observed in a candlelight service from 11 p.m. to midnight. The Christmas recess for the students of the Katonah Elemen tary School, and John Jay High School will begin on Tuesday, Dec 23, with dismissal at noon before lunch. School will resume after the holidays on Monday, Jan. 5. Dean Lorenz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lorenz, son of Mr. and Road, Katonah, a freshman at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo, will be home with his family for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. John Baur of Mount Holly Road, Katonah, hosted a yearly Christmas party on Satur day evening at their home for their many friends and neighbors of Mount Holly.
