Prezioso Hits Park Board on Site Decision \The next move\ relative to the development of a sportsmen's cen ter in Westchester \is up to the Park Commission\ Dr. Sal J. Prezioso, Westchester superintend ent of recreation and chairman of the Sportsmen's Advisory Commit tee said today. His remarks came after the Westchester Park Commission turned down a request to establish the center at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Prezioso said: \The Sportsmen's Advisory Com mittee, which I was privileged to chair, has studied the mattei for a period of more than two years. The final recommendations of the Sportsmen's Advisory Committee were the combined professional judgments of the superintendent of recreation, the general superin tendent of parks and the budget director, together with those of the delegated sports' representa tives. \It was our decision that the Sportsmen's Center was needed. And it would be a justifiable Coun ty responsibilitiy. And\ further, that it would be appropriate to devel op the Sportsmen's Center at Ward Pound Ridge, with Blue Mountain as a second choice. \It must be realized that our Committee studied, visited and re ceived engineering advice on such areas as Croton Point, Camp Smith, George's Island, two sites at Ward Pound Ridge and Blue Mountain. \The hurried decision of the Park Commission was indeed un fortunate. This project should be decided on its merits. And not as a popularity contest. \The many letters and tele grams, which we received, were pro and con. And I would venture to say that, if we were looking for a popularity poll, there would be no doubt as to the decision. Let us not forget that we have upwards of 50,000 sportsmen in Westchester. \Appointed officials should take cogniance of county policy, the judgment of elected officials, and the demands of all segments of the population. 41-26C EXCITING XMAS GIFTS Microscopes, minerals, skills, fossils, books, selected educational kits SCI ENCE SHOPS — 1164, 6th Ave. , OI 7-2327 126 W. 23rd St., N.Y.
