Harrier 3rd In Sectionals Bill Straub of Mount Kisco, a durable, hard-running sixteen year old Fox Lane H.S. junior, ran a good race but showed signs of tiring near the finish and had to settle for third place in the Class B. division of a New York State PHSAA intersectional Cross country run held on Nov. 8 over Colgate University's 2.5 mile course. Straub was the Foxes' biggest point maker this season and his victory in the Northern Westches ter Interscholastic League meet clinched the championship for Coach Joe Vorbach's harriers. The Fox Lane student's excel lent showing earned him a berth on the Section One cross country squad that went to Hamilton, N.Y. for intersectionals. Barney White of Oneonta won the individual Class B. title in 13:17 and was followed home by Don Nuffer of Lowville, clocked in 13:23. Straub finished five seconds behind the runnerup in 13:28. Straub Tires White poured it on all the way Straub challenged him once as he pulled to within five yards, with- three-quarters of a mile to go, but the up-state boy just took off. Nuffer kicked by the tiring Straub in the last half-mile, but the West- chesterite held on for third place Allan Chapman, a lanky sen ior from Huntington High School, successfully defened his New York State PHSSA individual corss-coun- try title. Two races were held, one for the Class A schools,'and one for the Class B-C-D schools combined in a B race.
