The parishes have ac cepted a quota of $539,658, an in crease of 10 per cent over the amount raised last year. The overall goal of Catholic Charities appeal in the 10 coun ties of the New York Archdiocese is $3,000,000. The meetings were attended by priests who will act as directors for the appeal in their respective parishes, lay chairmen and key workers. Speakers included the district managers for Westchester and directors of the various de partments of Catholic Charities, which include family service, health and hospitals, child care, youth activities and youth coun selling. Discussed at the meeting were I the organization of the parishes for the annual appeal and the ways in which volunteer workers could be more effective in the house-to-house solicitation of Cath olic families scheduled for April 20 to 30. The necessity for being well prepared to answer questions on Catholic Charities welfare ac tivities was stressed. It was also pointed out that Francis Cardinal Spellman has suggested a days wage or income as a guide for generous giving.
