Mrs. Manus Isaacson reported on* the results of the recent cookie sale. Mount Kisco Brownie Troop 197. On March 12 we were taught what we will have to do to become Girl Scouts. DAYTIME IS BETTER LARCHMONT—Two attempts to set a night meeting at which Re publican and Democratic candi dates for village office were to appear on the same platform hav ing proved unavailing, the Larch- mont League of Women Voters have picked a daytime date with success. A public meeting, at which all candidates can appear, is to be held Saturday in Village Hall at 2:30 p. m. We had inspection and paid our dues as usual. Those who did not finish their sit-a-pons last time, did so at last week's meeting. Lynn Anderson and Patty Murphy gave a report on the John Jay School rally. After this we asked the'girls questions about the rally. Our leaders allowed us to play outside for the rest of. the after noon. Next week we are going into the woods and girls with jack knives will make hangers out of broken branches -which we may find. We are doing this project in preparation for our camp-out in May. The work will count for our badge work. Wendy Mlotok, scribe. Mount Kisco. Troop 167. At our March meeting our as- sistant Troop leader, Mrs. Ruther-We are doing this'because we are ford showed us how to make a sit-a-pon with newspaper and pa per bags.. It will be used as a cushion when we go camping. Some of the girls used plastic in stead of the paper bags, which makes the cushion weatherproof. At our last meeting, we learned what is required for attaining first class rank and also second class. KATONAH TROOPS Troop 218 Intermediates The Girl Scouts in Troop 218 Intermediates are going to Toad's Pond to ice skate if the ice is thick enough. The girls will meet at the Katonah Elementary School and walk to the pond from there, as there is little distance between them. In case the ice is not thick enough, the girls will be notified. The girl scouts in troop 218 are also making saris. Saris are the garments the people of India wear. New Castle Tribune, Chappaqua, N. Y., March 20, 1958 13 County's Role Is Applauded 4n Jay Estate By Staff Correspondent ALBANY — Westchester County and Otto koegel of Granite Springs Somers, came in for some plaudits Tuesday as the Assembly passed legislation involving the John Jay Homestead in Bedford. The Jay esjtate will be purchased by Westchester County and given to the State for \historical and ed ucational use.\ The Senate is ex pected to give the measure unani- row. The bill's sponsor, Mrs. Mildred Taylor of Wayne County, chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee on Historic Sites, told the lower house: \Westchester County and Otto Koegel of Granite Springs are to be congratulated for their part in making possible the preservation of this historic site.\ She added that Koegel had estab lished a foundation to take an op tion on the Jay property when it learning about India. We are going to have a lady come and teach us a dance that they do in India and besides that the troop has learned a game that the children in India play. Elizabeth Taylor, scribe. Troop 125 Intermediate Our patrols are working on the India program. Each patrol will do something different. We plan to use recipes, handcrafts and pup pets. At pur last meeting, we opened letters with pennies in them which will be donated to the Boys Club. Only through her tireless efforts was the fight to pre serve the homestead won.\ Mrs v Taylor cited \valuable por traits, chairs used in the First Congress, extensive library, and documents pertaining to Jay\ that wll be \on display a the Bedford homestead. John Jay, a chief jus tice of the United States, governor of New York and ambassador, lived the last 30- .years of his life at the estate.
