(Sandy Wyman photo) In her first Powder Puff Derby outing held during the monstrous Demolition Derby at the Gouverneur Fair \fairgrounds\ on Sunday, August 9, Renee Hewlett of Gouverneur gained the award plus bragging rights until next year after a crashing good time! (Sandy Wyman photo) One of the many highlights of the Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair was the Saturday, August 8 features of local pickup owners \pulling\ power before the Saturday night feature of the NYS Tractor Pullers Association, what \a show, the roar of combined hundreds of HP completed by the roar of the grandstand spectators. (Sandy Wyman photo) Jacob .Owens, son of former residents Bruce and Linda Owens now of Wilmington, Delaware graduated from the University of Delaware on May 30 receiving degrees of Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Jacob is the grandson of Charles and Higouhi Owens of Gouverneur and also the grandson of the late Carl and Venisha Thompson of Fowler.
