Many from this area enjoyed the DeGrasse Methodist Church spaghetti dinner on Thursday, June 25. The Seven Steeples summer hours for July DeKalb Junction andOld DeKalb worship together at Old DeKalb Church at 10am. Edwards and South Edwards will worship together in Edwards at 9:30am. DeGrasse Church ^services are at 8:30am, Hermon Church services at 10am and Russell Church services at ll;15am. The hours for August worship are different and wilJ be posted later. The DeKalb-Hermoh Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 24. People signed up for the \Tribute to Tom Jones and Neil Diamond\ show on July 9. There was also a trip to White Hill on Saturday, June 27. Shirley Todd brought a beautiful birthday cake to celebrate her mother, Avis- Todd and Cheryl Madlin's birthdays on June 22 and 29. Hammond Central School is proud to announce this year's senior class leaders. This year's Valedictorian is Elspeth Chapman, daughter of Sara Lubkin-Hardsr, with a 3 3 A year average of 98.75. She has been accepted at Northeastern University, New York University and Boston University. Elspeth is currently the National Honor Society treasurer. She has participated in Science Club, Spanish Club, Mock Trial and Year.book Committee. ELSPETH CHAPMAN Elspeth- has been a cheerleader for four years. Elspeth received the U.S. Marines Scholastic JULIE BECK Excellence Award, the Air Force Math & Science Award and the RP1 Medal Award. She received a Dean's Scholarship from Harmer, Bacon class leaders at Hermon-DeKalb Hermon-DeKalb Central School is pleased to announce the selection of Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2009. Katie Harmer, daughter of Harry and Sherry Harmer, has been named Valedictorian of the Hermon-DeKalb Class of 2009. Katie's academic achievement has earned her an overall average of 93.76 KATIE HARMER percent. Katie has been a member of National Honor Society, the Whiz Quiz Team and was nominated for the St. Lawrence University Augsbury Scholarship. She also participated in the HDCS athletic program on the basketball team. She is a long term and valued member of the stage band and chorus. Katie's plan for the fall of 2009 is to attend SUNY Potsdam, majoring in Music Education. Marissa Bacon, daughter of Richard and Nicole Ward, has been named Hermon-DeKalb Class of 2009 Salutatorian. As a National Honor Society President, Marissa has earned an overall high school average of 93.68 percent. She earned awards including the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, and Rensselaer Medal Award. Additionally, Marissa has held significant roles on the HDCS Student Council Executive Board, Yearbook Staff and was a member of the Whiz Quiz Team, and stage band. Marissa participated on both the varsity softball and swimming teams. In the fall, Marissa will join the SUNY Oswego Class of2013. Northeastern. She will be pursuing a major in International Business. This year's Salutatorian is Julie Beck, daughter of Kevin and Eun Ae Beck, with a 3 3 /4 year average of 97.71. Julie has been accepted at Stony Brook for Marine Sciences. Julie is secretary of the National Honor Society, President of the Science Club and secretary of the Student Council. She is also a member of the Mock Trial Team. Julie has participated in NYSSMA Vocal Solos for the past four years. She received the Bausch & Lomb Science Award, the Air Force Math & Science Award and was nominated for the St. Lawrence University Augsbury Scholarship Award. Julie is looking at careers in the Environmental Science area. Noble Hospital Auxiliary has celebrated a milestone in its ongoing fundraising efforts in order to maintain the goal of providing for the ill, aged and very young within the health care facility and the Kinney Nursing Home. The over the top successful \Spring Dance,\ held on Saturday, June 6 with appreciation to Member-at- Large Terry Pistolesi and the hosts and hostesses gained this year in popularity like no other, raising around $14,000 when all is said and done. The monies generated go a long way towards the $20,000 each in a five-year pledge to the hospital's capital expansion plan. Next on the list of upcoming events is the annual Antiques in the Park set for Saturday, August 22. It is almost time to walk around great grandma's treasures once again. Watch for details! David and Jane Doiron celebrate 50 th anniversary On Saturday, June 27 Jane and David Doiron were honored with a 50\ 1 wedding anniversary party. In attendance were son Scott, Mary Beth and Chris from Brooklyn, daughter Lisa, Lynda, Anthony, Samantha, Stephanie, and Catherine from Ludlow, Massachusetts, son Tim, Teresa, and grandson Michael from Roanoke, Virginia and son Tom from Walworth, New York. Others in attendance were Robert and Kathy Baker from Springfield, Massachusetts and Neil and Mary Baker from San Jose, California (Jane's brothers), Gayle Griffith (Jane's sister) and Lee Schwartz from Cumberland, Maryland and Debbie Griffith (Jane's sister) and Deb Muzzy from Brainerd, Minnesota, Jeff Doiron (David's brother) and Ed Hankerd from Canyon,Texas, David's sister Kay and John Mcintosh from Pierrepont along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors were also present. A total of nine states were represented. The party was given by their children and John and Kay Mcintosh. It was a joy to see the happiness of people who hadn't seen one another in years, visiting and laughing outdoors (the weather cooperated and it was a very nice day.)
