Richville News Family gatherings t By Lila Youngs Dates to remember: Richville Rockets 4-H annual house-decorating contest will be held this month. Judging will be December 21. For more information check the calendar of events in the Tribune or call Heather at 287- 4215 orPam at 287-2699. December 6, Saturday, at 6:30pm. will be the annual Friendship Dinner at the United Church. There will be a gift exchange ($5 limit) and a gift for your child as there will be a visit from St. Nick. Like music and singing? The church is looking for choir members. Call Linda K. Brown at 287-3740 or Pastor Karen Taylor at 287-0837 if you would like to join the choir or if you need information about the dinner. Local news update Linda E. Brown spent November 6 and 7 as well as November 10 through the 13 visiting in Rochester with her daughter Charlene Miner and grandson Ryan. Granddaughter Tia Brown provided a special treat with lunch for all at Friendly's on November 11. On November 12 Linda and Tia were lunch guests of Marion Wolfert at the Union Hills Restaurant in Webster. The Skirts and Flirts Square Dance Club recently celebrated a milestone anniversary as a club with a special dance on November 7. Seven charter members attended as well as several past callers and seven sets of square dancers. A cake decorated with a picture of all current club members was made by Sandra Brown. A representative from the Seaway Squares Club'of Canada presented the group with a plaque in honor of their celebration. Bob Brown who is a caller for the Skirts and Flirts called a demonstration square dance at the senior apartment building in Canton on November 12. Bob and Linda Brown were guests at an early Thanksgiving dinner held at the home of their daughter, Darlene Brown and Mike Palmer in Gouverneur on November 15. Other guests were Mike's daughter and family, Sarah and Jeff Eddick and their baby daughter, Abigail, Cody and Chad Dalton, Charlene Miner, Ryan and Tia from Rochester. On November 21 Lila and Bud Youngs and granddaughter Lillianna Shippee visited with Carol and Rod Thornton in Redwood in the early morning. Lillianna stayed with the Thornton family while the Youngs kept a doctor's appointments in Ogdensburg. They then took Lillianna to meet her mother, Jen before continuing to Watertown where they were guests at Julie and Rick Harra's to share a Thanksgiving dinner for Matt Harra, as he had to work over the holiday weekend. The RVFD Ladies Auxiliary met on November 20. The annual Christmas parties for Richville will be Wednesday December 10 and for St. Lawrence County Ladies Auxiliary on December 13. Both parties will be at the Casablanca. For reservations or information call Pam Stinson at 287-2669 or Heather Bowman at287-4215. Richville young people appearing in the play \Frog and Toad\ held at Gouverneur High School were Mallory Austin, Tyler Law, Sylvia Nentwick and Morgan Stinson, a very, very good performance. Congratulations are also in order for the young people of Richville who have made the honor roll this marking period. In the middle school receiving academic excellence are Sylvia Nentwick and James Meola, honor Luke Austin, Megan Drake, Tyler Law and Kayla Meola and at East Side Tyler Bowman and Dylan Gibson both fifth graders and Nicole Embry in sixth grade. .At the West Side School third grader, Matthew Morrow made the honor roll. Thanksgiving was a busy time in Richville. The weather was somewhat decent for those that had to travel. Mary Ellen LaFalce was dinner guest at the home of Sunday and Tim Bennett on Thanksgiving Day, an annual event for the friends each year. John and Crystal Austin, Luke, Mallory and Harley were hosts to Donna and Roger Farr and Carl Morrow on Thanksgiving Day. . Charles and Lulu Papp spent their Thanksgiving with Sally Hughes and Don Kerr of Ogdensburg. Alfred and Linda Brown were in Madrid for Thanksgiving with Mary Jean and Mike Steinberg, their son Jimmy and his girl friend Leslie. Twenty six members of Bob and Lucille Pratt's family dined together on Thanksgiving Day with Jay Pratt traveling the furthest fromNorth Carolina. Bob and Lucille also celebrated the arrival of a new great grandson, Trent James Fleming who was born on Monday, November 24. He is the son of James and Stephanie Pratt Fleming of Elbridge and the grandson of Jay Pratt. Doris Putman spent Thanksgiving Day with her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Cartwright. Jen and Emily Cartwright were also home for the holiday, Jen from Washington DC and Emily from Malone. James Putman and family of Heuvelton were also there. Weekend guests of Doris Putman were Louise and Tom Schwellensattl of Rochester. Cory and Amber Morrow, Matthew, Michael and Hailey were Thanksgiving guests of Amber's parents Jim and Wendy Webster. In addition to the holiday there was special birthday party for Hailey's second birthday. Tim and Heather Bowman, Timmy and Tyler, Charles Bowman, Dick and Doris Cota, Mark and Amy Olson, Sarah and Matthew spent Thanksgiving Day together at the Bowman home. Pam Stinson, Danielle and Morgan came for dessert later in the day. Twenty-five family members gathered at the home of Bud and Lila Youngs on Thanksgiving Day. Andy Youngs drove from Washington, DC arriving on Wednesday. Russell and Gloria Youngs and their son Ross drove from Mishawaka, Indiana arrived at 6am Thursday morning. Jeremy Robertson, a young cousin formerly from Omaha, Nebraska who is at Fort Drum after a second tour in Iraq came with Julia Harra from Watertown. Jen and Mark Shippee also spent the evening with Jen's grandmother, Louise Shaw in Gouverneur. Mark and Jen Shippee, Heather Bowman, Amy Olson and Doris Cota were a part of the Black Friday shoppers in Watertown. The Youngs returned home on Monday. Gilbert and Claire Peck also celebrated Thanksgiving on Saturday with their children. Seth came from Cazenovia, Zach and Erica from Monusville, Hannah from Utica College, Emily and Wade Decker and their son Owen from Madrid. Ford and Sarah Reynolds were delighted that all of their children could be home for Thanksgiving. The guests included Lorie and Chris Miller, Rachel, Rebekah, and Nathaniel from Schuylerville, Jamie and Carrie Reynolds, Hannah and Elizabeth from Oneonta, Jill and Maurey Lovell, Sarah, Martin and Noah, Heidi and Derek Levendusky, Grace, Joye, Esther, Reese and Audrey from Avon.
