(Sandy Wyman photo) Asfe Alex The news media is saying that the mortgage and housing crisis is having such a negative impact on banks that it is hard to get mortgage money. Is that true? No, the lenders in our area never got into the high risk lending business as did some of the internet bankers and mortgage companies. For lenders in this area, it has been business as usual; mortgage money is very available to qualified buyers and there are also some good special programs for first time homebuyers. Remember that the first step in buying a home is to establish a relationship with a lender. They will tell you what you can and cannot afford and how to get started. We have lists of all the lenders in the area as well as information on government assistance and grant programs. I can provide you with step-by-step help that will get you into your own home sooner than you think. I have many listings in a variety of price ranges. Just take a minute, give me a call today and find out how I can help, it's just that easy! Muse- to think about, meditate on Amuse- to keep pleasantly occupied, to be entertained; synonym, divert Theist- one who believes in a God, or Gods Atheist- One who believes there is no God, or Gods Ritual- a system or form of rites Relationship- a connection between one or more persons \As atheism rejects theism, so amusement stifles musing.\ I found this an interesting statement by a man I consider the Ralph Nader of Christianity. He has been keeping Christians on their toes for forty years. He's a whistle- blower and is not afraid to challenge and confront some of what passes for modern day Christianity. My friend, MaryAnn Meola, and I would iike to , invite you to a \Roundtable On Christian Thought. \ This will be a series of four evenings geared toward agnostics and/or churched people who are not sure what they believe. Neither of us are experts but we will listen to your concerns and questions. We would also like to present some books and videos that we have found helpful in our own separate journeys. Both of us have come from unbelief to belief from ritual to relationship with a Living God. We are both convinced He really does care and wants to help us not just cope, but find real joy! In a busy world and a busy life where entertainment is a welcome diversion, take four evenings to muse with us. Whether you are just not sure about what you believe or you are comfortable in a ritual you don 't think much about.. .. Come muse with us. Week 1 Looking In Introductions, concerns and questions expressed. The Mystery of Life, a D VD. Focus this week will be scientists who had been atheist or agnostic but have come to believe in God, or at least a higher power, through scientific observation. BooJos will also be available to look at on many areas that may be concerns. Author and title may be noted so that if a book or DVD addresses one of your concerns you will have the information to order it on line or from a book store. Week 2 Looking Out Continue with DVD, The Mystery of Life, Part 2. Discuss evolution vs. mutation and natural selection. Discuss any questions and concerns. Begin The Privileged Planet... this shows how precise and exacting a place we have in this vast universe. Week 3 Looking Up \But how can we trust the bible as God's only revelation to man? Men wrote it, therefore we can't trust it. \ Deal with this concern using a DVD, The Indestructible Book. Have resources for people to look at and note, they can order on their own if they are interested. Entertain questions. Week 4 Looking Within Listen to selections from C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity on the nature of God. As Lewis knew, and we have come to know, we must be able to trust the character of the one who calls us to follow Him and live for Him. Given the complexity of life, the magnitude of what we call the universe, and the record of the Bible what will you do with this Icnowledge? There are many unanswered and, perhaps, unanswerable questions. Religion is man s solution to the spiritual aspect of life. Jesus is God's solution. Four Thusrdays in July.
