Page 13 Gouverneur Tribune Press, Thursday June 12, 2008 A gift of green Daisy Troop #8, from Gouverneur, donated four window boxes to the Kinney Nursing Home on May 16. The girls had a great time filling the window boxes with assorted green ferns and plants. We're certain the residents at the nursing home are enjoying the thoughtful gift from the girls. Despite shortage of space, nearly 20,000 library visitors checked out over 21,000 items in 2007. Library usage is projected to continue to increase. Over 2,800 individuals participated in at least one of the 260 programs offered in 2007. Computer use has grown dramatically with the number of public access internet computer stations growing to six. Most of these take up space once used for private reading, study tables, and meeting space. Larger programs (more than 30 people) must now be held offsite, either at the church next door or elsewhere. This defeats one of the main purposes of having programs onsite: to attract people to the building and encourage their further use of the collections. The Community has responded to our request for funds for the renovation project Contributions by Individuals, Companies, Civic Groups, Foundations and State Funding for the project total $325,602 to date - less than $23,000 from our goal of $348,000. Your Contribution can put us over the top!
