Ellison c hedule Oi Events HERMON - The funeral service for Wilson \Roger\ Perrin, 60, of Hermon, was Wednesday, March 19,2008, at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with Rev. Jerry Bleaux, pastor of St. James Church, Gouverneur, officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Edwards. Mr, Perrin died, while under Hospice care, on Saturday, March 15,2008 at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur. Born on December 25, 1947, in Gouverneur, the son of Wilson F. and Theresa E. (Brunet) Perrin. He graduated from Hennon-Dekalb Central School in 1967. Right out of high school Roger starting working for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department. He retired as a heavy equipment operator on December 27,2002, putting in over 35 years of service. Mr. Perrin married Irene L. Aldrich on September 5, 1970 at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Dekalb Jet. with Father Howard Gosier officiating. The couple has lived in the same house in Hermon for over 36 years. Roger was first and foremost a family man. If a favor was needed, from either family or friends, Roger would help. He was an avid newspaper reader and loved to fish, hunt and cut wood. An outdoorsman, Roger was rarely inside. He was a caretaker for neighboring properties for many years. He enjoyed building things and has helped build and finish houses, including cabinet making. His survivors include his mother, Theresa E. Perrin, Edwards; his wife, Irene L. Perrin, Hermon; three daughters and their husbands; Lory A. and Jason Whitton, Gouverneur, Wendy L. and Chris Robinson, Dekalb, and Barbara L. and David Brown, Jr., Hermon; a son, Jason L. Perrin, Hermon; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronnie L. and Sally Perrin, Hermon, and Jerry E. Perrin, Boonville; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth F. Babcock, Port Jervis, Carol A. and Robert Brayton, Gouverneur, Jean E. and Leon Thompson, Edwards and Deanna Perrin, Edwards; eight grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased his father, Wilson F. Perrin and by a sister, Faye E. Baxter. Baker, 78, of 12931 Route 812, ^Harrisville, was said Wednesday, March 19,2008, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Maple Street, Harrisville, with the Rev. Robert Decker, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The Bossuot- Lundy Funeral Home, Harrisville was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Baker died Saturday, March 15, 2008, in the emergency room at Carthage Area Hospital after being stricken ill at home.' Bom August 27, 1929, in Harrisville, son of Charles M. and Bertha (Desrosiers) Baker, he was a 1946 graduate of Harrisville High School. He married Dorothy Chartrand on June 11,1949, at St. Anthony's Church, Indian River, with the Rev. Cosmos Girard officiating. Mr. Baker was employed at St. Regis Paper Mill from 1946 to 1952, before working for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. in Carthage and Star Lake. He retired as a line foreman after 33 years of service. Mr. Baker was town of Diana supervisor from 1988 to 1994. He had been a member of Gouverneur Elks Lodge and was a former member and president of the Harrisville Central School District Board of Education. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. Surviving besides his wife are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Lisa, and Michael and Barbara, all of Ohio, and Daniel and Edward, both of Harrisville; three daughters and a son-in- law, Cheryl and Perry Planck, Castorland, Leta Breault, Alabama, and Juliann Gates, California; a sister, Rita Cring, Sackets Harbor; 19 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Maurice, Francis and Bernard, and three sisters, Mary O'Connor, Eva Farr and Jean Lake, died before him. Kenneth H. Woods Jr. DEKALB JUNCTION—-A memorial service for Kenneth H. Woods Jr., 55, DeKalb Junction, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Green FuneralHome, Hermon, with the Rev. James M. Brand, pastor of Canton United Methodist Church, officiating. There are no calling hours. Mr. Woods died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Canton- Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam. He had been ill with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Born October 29, 1952, at Tupper Lake, son of Kenneth H. and Reta J. (St. Onge) Woods, he graduated from Tupper Lake High School. Marriages to Bette Wescott and Judy Stransky ended in divorce. He served in the Navy from 1975 to 1977 and then graduated from Canton Agricultural and Technical College with a degree in electrical trades. Mr. Woods was an electrician for several years and also operated a cabinetry and woodworking shop at DeKalb Junction. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and was a member of DeKalb Amvets and the Packard Hunting Club, Colton. Surviving besides his mother, of Tupper Lake, are two daughters, Jennifer Woods, Oswego, and Daisy Woods, DeKalb Junction; three stepsons, Donald Stransky, DeKalb, and Christopher Stransky and John Stransky, both of Hermon; two stepdaughters, Dinal Higham, Hermon, and Barbara Stransky, DeKalb; a brother, Chris, Colton; two sisters and their husbands, Lorene and Philip Royce, Canton, and Shirley and Norman Garrelts, Ogdensburg; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A. brother, Glenn, a sister, Carrie Perry, and a granddaughter died before him. Donations may be made to DeKalb Amvets. A memorial service for Robert F. Ellison, 77, Scotch Settlement Road, Gouverneur, was Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Wilfred Baez, pastor of Gouverneur United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Ellison died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur. Born Jan. 1, 1931, in Gouverneur, son of William and Ruth (White) Ellison, he graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1948 and received an associate's degree from Long Island Technical College mFarrningdale in 1950. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1954 and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant. He married Barbara Mercer on Sept. 4, 1955, at the. Gouverneur First Methodist Church with the Rev. William C. Wood and the Rev. Merritt W. Updyke officiating. Mr. Ellison was employed by Rouse Construction Co. in Gouverneur before purchasing Mercer's Jersey Farm, a milk bottling and distributing business in Gouverneur. He eventually established .Dairyland Milk, which operated a chain of dairy stores. He was a member of Gouverneur Masonic Lodge and Gouverneur Elks Lodge 2035. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities, Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert E., Theresa; two daughters and a son-in- law, JulieAnn and Mark Delgrosso, Elmira, and Ellen Ellison-Sykes, Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers and their wives, David and Loretta, Gouverneur, and William and Rosemarie, Florida; two sisters and a brother-in-law, lsabelle Murphy, Lakeland, Fla., and Mildred and Charles Jeffers, Red Creek, and several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A sister, Marybelle Lewis, and a grandson, Stephen Ellison, died before him. Donations may be made to Gouverneur Volunteer Fire Department or Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad. Theresa L. Abell A graveside service for Theresa L. Abell, 91, formerly of Gouverneur, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur at a date and time to be announced. Mrs. Abell died on Friday, March 14,2008 at the Consulate Health Care Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, FL. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Bom on January 4,1917 in Rossie, the only child of the late Myron and Julia (Force) Apple. She attended school in Somerville and graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1936.
